Campomatic / Hardfloor Owners..................
« on: March 04, 2013, 07:45:19 PM »
I am looking at buying an older (1998) but what seems like a very very well maintained Campomatic Ranger.

Not being experienced with hard floors I would like to ask those who own one if there is anything particular I should be looking out for when I inspect it.

The guy who currently owns it offered it to me the on friday night as he has bought a KK.

I haven't seen it for a couple of years but do remember that he had done alot of mods to it.

Recent work done to it includes:

New tyres
Shocks, (on independent suspension)
New bearings
New brakes magnets etc.
New front tool box.

This was done for a planned Cape trip but he ended up just taking his 4WD

I am going to look at it next weekend so will take and post a few photos.

If you can think of anything specific I need to look at please let me know.

Cheers Nomad.

Hi Nomad
We have an 03 ranger M3. Bought second hand last year before the cape trip. Absolutley love it. So easy to set up and pack up. Handled the cape with ease.

Things we looked at when buying were
1. All seals around hard floor, pull out kitchen and front box. Checking for dust ingress and possible water.

2. Shock mounts and springs for movement. Also exposed bolt threads under trailer. Good indicator of how much use and abuse.

3. Edges of canvas for wear where it folds up and the canvas around to hood bows for stretched stitching. Good idea to test all zips etc.

4. Usual mechanical things as you've already mentioned, break magnets, bearings, hitch etc.

GunnaDo certainly knows the campomatic's well and will probably have far better tips.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

Watty.
