Put some new rear shocks in the Paj today.
The rear drivers side sh!t itself last week, leaking a lot of oil.
Took it into TJM and, as it was less than 3 years old, they replaced it under warranty with not one but two  brand new shocks!
So two new shocks on the back of the Paj, and now have one of the old one's as a spare!

Worked on the camper, replacing my mppt controller, charged the batteries to 100%, then pulled the drums and checked the wear on the brake shoes and grease on the bearings.
Swmbo pulled everything out and gave it a good clean while I did the electrics.
She then helped with the brakes.

Dispatched an Eastern Brown Snake  :o

Was sitting on a stool in the back corner of the shed wiring some switches when I caught a bit of movement out of the corner of my eye; happened to be 2 Eastern Brown's slithering along the gutter between my shed and the slab at the back; no more than two meters away!!

I am phobic of snakes so needless to say I sh@t myself; by the time I got back with a shovel, one had taken off into the bush out the back but the other one was making its way into my shed..........wrong answer snake, this is my shed and I don't like sharing.

Anyway, a timely reminder to everyone to be careful where you're stepping this time of year.

Cheers, Paul

Finally started making the new access cover for the underground water tank out at whoop whoop.

Not all that hard to do, but stuff me sideways, the temp here yesterday was 31.6 (feels like 36) on weatherzone, so I gave up and will finish another day.

Hope its cooler today, gotta give the ol work van a brake check today.
Been a while now since its had pads or shoes, so I think a quick check, de-dust and adjust might be in order.

Maybe cast an eye over those ball joints while you're at it. Hate to see it drop its guts in your driveway  ;D

How did that weather work for you today?
Here it was a max 33c yesterday. Made it to 37c today.

friggin hot....

Ball joints were good.  ;D

Because I want to swap the old van over to 15's, with 14 inch tyres now really expensive, I've been hunting around to see what was available.
3 x 15" chaser wheels.
7 x Fairmont Ghia wheels, but I have to buy the special long wheel nuts for 'em
4 x 15",  5 spoke mags with 4 x 70% tyres on 'em for $180.00

Bit of a no brainer, except the mags are bright purple.....  ??? who does that....  ???
So, a quality can of hammertone charcoal spray paint for $18.00 and WHOOSHKER.....

Noooice 15 wheels, legal tyres, I reckon the van's doubled it value..... it could be worth up to $450.00 now.

Regreased the front wheel bearings cause the service schedule said I should. Cleaned up then wrote it in my service book. 3 lines up I notice that I rebuilt the front calipers only 8500kms ago and repacked the bearings while I was it. 🙈

Rearanged some stuff under a bench and moved the compressor in the process. The handle was sticking out past the bench, smacked the side of my knee cap into it, run out of swear words so I invented a few. Cut the handle of the fkn compressor so it doesn't happen again.
Brought the little tv in to watch the cricket, had to clear some space on the bench and found some yellow post toppers;

This post has interfered with my drinking.🐙

Did you pay 12 months rego on it too?  :-*

Might have a set of 15" steel wheels with tyres you can have if ya want. What width are the 14" ?

God bless diy dads that dive in head first without thinking!

Decided to get miss 18 a light bar for her 97 Rav4 as an xmas prezzie.  She's been hinting at a pair of old spotties I've got for a few months.
Grabbed one of those spotlight mounts that fix on at the number plate and working off that I figured a 22inch light bar would fit.  Which it does.  She's away on holidays atm, I thought I'd give it a trial fit and pre do all the wiring, so I could just bolt it on and plug it in on xmas day.

A 22inch light bar is pretty big a on a Rav4... and a Rav4 bumper bar is pretty flimsly... with only plastic tabs to fix the mount on, they'res a bit of wobble about it!
Looks like its bar off tomorrow and a bit of reinforcing to do.

Just finished giving the cox a big birthday in preparation to sell it. The more I spruce it up, the less I want to sell it though.

In the design stage for sets for the Addams family musical so I built a scale model of the stage and some set pieces so we can see how they look.
so there is a bit of corrugated cardboard in the cave at the moment to go along with the 50 1200x2400 3mm MDF and the 20 various thickness boards (that have all been donated)
Need to start building soon.

Fitted a couple of cig/USB sockets to the trailer interior today and ran the wires out to the fusebox. Got too hot then, so wiring can be finished tomorrow!
We've swapped from the camper to a van yay! :)

Dads been gone for six years now, and mum has finally let me go through his shed. He was a tradesman (Carriage builder for SA Railways) so there were many tools there. Most looked rusty and just scrap metal. Brought some home and started to clean them up.
Cannot believe the quality of old tools. With a bit of work on the wire wheel and a bit of CRC, I am now scrapping a heap of my tools and replacing them with the old ones.
On a side note. When I was a youngster some of the things around the place were initialled and belonged to Sara Ann Robinson. Took me many years to realise who she was.
