I traced a wiring fault down through a maze of cable and relays...only to find the fault lay with the easiest to get to..and obviously the LAST bloody component I checked!

1 replacement 200amp relay later..and all good. power restored!

Ran the cable from back of tub to an Anderson plug at the rear of D-Max .
Put the 100W Solar Panel on the canopy and wired it up ...
Cutout the board to hold the controller and Andersons - spray painted it ...
Drank a beer and inspected my good works !!
Going back to basics - sort of ...

I installed a run of 8B&S on my mates van to run his fridge while driving.
When I got home, I installed a dual external outlet on my Flamingo, (used the old fridge wiring).
Re ran a new set of cables for the fridge to run on DC while driving, back to the house battery (8B&S) and fused at the battery.
Also ran another run of 8B&S from battery to the 'electrical' cupboard, and installed my fused block and other bits.

Next are the speakers and water pump, and then that is it.. For now..

Yesterday I built an awning for the Cruiser.
Don't have the coin to buy a bagged one, this folds up nicely into a green shopping bags that fits between the rear seats and the cargo barrier with the poles. Some of the gear I already had. So with a couple of cans off I went to the shed.
I had to purchase,
Poly Tarp, 3.0M X 2.4M Heavy Duty Silver/Black backing. $21.99
3 X S/Steel 3/8x4" bolts with Nylon Lock Nuts, 6 X S/S washers $9.45
4 X Gal 8mm x 40mm bolts + nut & washer $4.80
2 X 25mm Plastic end caps. $1.80
Total = $38.04

Stuff I already had.
4 X R Clips.
4 x Gal Chain 70mm long( Used to keep the R Clip from being lost)
1 X Gal Box 25x25mm 3.1 Meters.
2 X Tent Poles.
2 X Guy Ropes
2 X 200mm Pegs
Sat the 25x25mm box 3.1 meters long on the top side of the Stainless Steel roof bars,
Worked out where it would sit best so as not to have the tail gate hit it or over hang the front to far. Place a piece of 5mm conveyor matting between the Gal box and the S/Steel roof bar. Pre drilled all holes and gave a coat of Cold Gal, end caps popped on.
The tarp is held in place with a bolt through the box steel at every D eyelit, washer and R clip. The R clip is chained to the bar( so we can't loose it)
The 25x25mm bar is bolted to the roof bars with 3/8 S/Steel bolts with nylon lock nuts. There is a piece of conveyor belt between the gal and S/Steel bars to stop rusting.
So for under 40 bucks I have a cover to sit under on the hot days and a cover so I don't get wet when watching the young bloke play Soccer on wet days.
 ;D

Thanks Mate,
I've been wondering how to make one for awhile now.
It takes about the same time as a bagged awning is to erect.
The wet weather we have had of late it will come in handy watching the kids play sport.
Only thing that bugs me, is the front chain for R clip rattles at idle, nothing a piece of electrical tape wont fix  LOL   ;D

Finally got around to making my sons second B'day present.
He is Thomas the tank engine MAD!! lol
So we thought we would make a bed for him.

We bought a bare frame then used that as a base to change.
We covered it in 10mm foam then stitched up the vinyl and fitted that over the top to give it a soft cushion as he is a little nuts and has no fear lol

For the head board it was the same principle except we used a Pillow case with a good graphic on it. We then cut it to fit and stapled it over foam to another piece of 12mm ply.
The ply was then screwed thru the back of the head board.

The side anti fall out of bed rails are the same again but screwed into the side with captive nuts and bolts so that they are removable.

My little man sure does love his new present

Cheers

Cheers guys. The best bit is now its a hassle to keep him out of bed.
He is always in there playing now.

The next project will be to make the pull out trundle for his thomas trains. Once he is used to being in a bed ill get cracking on that one.

Hairs. Might just be me, but the recycle bag might restrict some vision when looking for traffic from the left?

Evo, top job on the bed.! ( can see just how much Thomas gear there is in the bedroom!)

No man cave for me this weekend, doctors orders!

Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Awesome Hairs,

I had a similar idea a few years ago.
I used 3 tent poles, one for the support on the roof racks and two for the awning / tarp support.

I screwed an full round hook into either end of one of the poles and secured the tarp with some of those tonneau hooks..................and just used a couple of ratchet straps to hold it to the roofrack. It work quite well and you could put it up and pull it down in about 5 minutes.

Its still in the garage somewhere rolled up I must dig it out some time.

Cheers Nomad.

Cut off the two jerry can holders, sanded and painted the front of the trailer.  Removed the three batteries from the front toolbox and filled a few unwanted holes.  Added five S/S tie down points to the front of the CT.  Tomorrow I figure out how to mount the three batteries in the new battery box.
