Is one better than another ? Help please.
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:19:48 AM »
If I am to throw the Primus shower thing away and get a nice tankless gas water heater for the side of the CT, I am needing to know what brand you have ??? Are you happy with it ? ANY LINKS TO GOOD ONLINE STORES TO PLEASE !!!

should be able to use the water pump that is already in the trailer......its quite noisey, but can't see the point of having 2 pumps.

These are the 2 I've found so far. There in my price range. Any comment ??
Thanks.

They look exactly the same but with a different brand label.

Will you fit this permanently somewhere on the ct or do a stand for it?

Cheers Nomad.

Have you considered aliexpress. Less than half the price of the ones above on ebay which are probably made in China as well.

6L LPG Portable Propane Gas Tankless Hot Water Heater

I've had no problem with aliexpress. However look at how old the ad is and send a message to the seller to see if the shipping costs are current as China had an excise added to fuel at the start of the year and the shipping may not be updated on the ad.

Nomad, thought we'd put it in the Jerry can holder, then close to the gas bottle and can easily tap into water line after the pump. May need to lengthen the actual shower hose so that it will reach over to the other side of the camper.....

Marschy, that one looks good too...

hargs,

I have one similar to the links you posted and am very happy. We use it "Flat Out" when washing up etc & set the temp to 39 - 40 C for showers. The hardest thing is to get the Gas/waterflow correct to achieve the desired temp...takes a bit of fiddling [and a few screams 'cause it gets hot or cold - isn't that what wives are for?].

Because it stores best horizontal but needs to be vertical to run, I have mounted it on a peice of ply that acts as the top of a small storage box. The box houses the hoses etc plus othe bits & peices. The silide was originally for the Aqua Cube but it was hopeless, also allows the unit to be kept away from the canvas as a lot of heat comes out the top flue.

The ply also acts to dissapate the heat generated from the back of the unit - I think they need a minimum of 15mm but more for flammable materials.

Here's a couple of pics.

+1 That's why I didn't permanently mount my chinese one to my camper because it wouldn't pass gas cert inspection due to not being "Australian Gas Association" approved.
I love mine and we use it a lot, just on a stand instead of permanently attached to the camper.

Cheers!

You might have had a dud I have had one for ages and it is friggin awesome, no trouble at all, easy to regulate and no hot cold fluctuations at all.

Gas appliances still have to have Australian Gas Association approval (or equivalent such as SAI Global) whether they are permanently mounted or not. It's basically a safety certification.

Australian Ebay sellers have been forced to have their appliances certified, although the units sold on Ebay from overseas sellers don't have the approval.

I brought a Rio Grande one a while back. unit works great and fits in my Jerry Can Holder that i brought from ARB. I hang it onto the side of the trailer when I need it or hang it from the tree. Brought it from www.blackdiamondsupplies.com.au.... Pretty easy and the unit arrived quick

Takes a bit of a beating too!
