Ebay tents ex China??
« on: February 20, 2013, 07:45:20 AM »
Has anyone seen these tents before?? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251230422685?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Seems this guy is a new seller having no seller history, currently has 5 of these for sale on ebay.

To me it seems a bit dodgy.... only $39.99 postage from China and in different parts of the ebay listing states "7 day money back, buyer pays return postage " & then "If you are not happy with your purchase, simply return it within 15 days for exchange or full refund, you only pay for return postage, no restocking fee.

Anyways... read the whole listing and post up what you think!!

I'm considering a bid just to see if anything eventuates, but then again don't want to throw $$ away unneccessarily.

First thing I thought was that the shipping sounds a tad too cheap. It even comes with a king size mattress. Personally I'd give it a miss for now and at least wait for some feedback.

Definitely cheap enough at this stage, worth a crack if it goes for a silly low price but I agree with you it seems a bit dodgy. Maybe wait until he sells this one and gets feedback.

There was 5 others last week from a different username with "0 feedback". Definately sounds dodgy.

Only thing that might save you is he is accepting Paypal so you have that security of getting some money back.

I dont want to be a party pooper but mate this has to be a con, even if the tent is allegedly in a warehouse somewhere in Australia... and as you say the seller has had zero sales.

I was bitten recently over ebay buying something too good to be true. The similarity I note is the long delivery time, plenty long enough to pull in a lot of mug punters.. they then shut down the website ... and if operating in the same way as in my case, they don't answer the phone to muddy the trail for as long as possible. Too late for the banks and paypal to sort out.

Good luck whatever your decision
cheers

and the poor ripped off bidder thinks oh well at least it wasnt a fortune.. added it up over 100 mugs its $29k so quite profitable scam.

Wouldn't be one of his 50 other accounts he has to bid up the price.

Those photos are off a stainless steel CT that is being marketed by Austrack Trailers from Hervey Bay.

I don't know if its manufactured here or China. If you have a look at the fifth photo from your link it is identical to the camper linked below.

The link to the ebay add is: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Austrack-Campers-Painted-Stainless-Steel-Off-Road-Camper-Trailer-Package-/200895660093?pt=AU_Caravans_RVs&hash=item2ec650803d&_uhb=1#ht_2017wt_1037

The interesting thing is there is no mention of the tent or trailer on the actual Austrack website, that I can find.

Maybe give them a call and ask about the trailer and tent to suss it out.

Cheers Nomad.

We worked on it and to ship 1 to me, was going to cost more than the unit. I've mentioned it on here before..
I think it was $320 shipping.
Edit $350 per unit.

To make it worth while, I had to order more than I could afford or store.

Freight is the biggest expense that drives up the cost of goods in Australia.  We are just such a small market, spread over a huge area.

I'd be surprised if you could get that trailer tent back to china for less than $1000.
