Thick Work Socks??

I actually wear 2 pair, 1st pair are short and very snug fit, 2nd pair are medium thickness hiking socks. the way this works is that any chafing is taken by the thin pair, never had a problem since doing that

If he had alpaca undies I'd buy em - the soft feeling on ya nads would be like a tounge.

The sox are so warm and cool - its hard to explain. The material is very soft on ones skin so one feels like one is not wearing ones socks.

I have Bamboo undies too.....Rio made a line of boxers that were a bamboo blend. They must be a few years old now and still good as new. Unfortunately they no longer produce them but have found asmall speciality shop in byron bay region that keeps bamboo clothing along with that awful scratchy Hemp rubbish that the hippies feel compelled to wear.

x2 Use them for work and their really thick ones for winter trout fishing.I have been to the shop/factory and watched the socks made which makes you feel good about buying Australian.

Are there different makes of bamboo work socks?
Can someone give a specific brand or online shop they recommend?
Might give them a try.

I bought some Bridgedale Summits for wearing in the snow or heavy frost last winter, very thick and warm, they also have elastic in the right places to keep them in shape. On the expensive side though, bought some locally then from Amazon US.

I generally wear Explorers, but looking for better socks at reasonable price. They have lots of different types now and a lot of shops don't cary the full range. Agree on the variable wear quality, some seem to stretch out of shape easily.

although these look good for the price as long as they are aussie Merino wool and not that chinese Meleeno Wooo instead.

The reason I wear vermont darn tough is not only because they are amazingly comfortable, they come with an unconditional life time warranty. If/when you wear them out they will replace them, and they do. So you never need to buy socks ever again. Its that simple really.

And yes I put it to the test, they really do replace them. In fact I burnt holes in a pair while welding with crocks and socks on (its a tassie fashion thing), sent them some photos of the socks with holes in them and no questions asked they sent a new pair.

Dont confuse these with the cheap 'darn tough' brand you see in supermarkets. Make sure you get the real deal 'vermont darn tough'.

You need to drop in to Australian Knitting Mills shop in Hood St Collingwood, basically it's Hoddle St, opposite the old town hall. Junky looking shop, sometimes closed, owner can be a bit stroppy too, but they have the best socks. Heavy, 90% wool from memory, about $8, also have merino. I keep going back and they are the only socks I have worn for about 15 years. They have all sorts of other stuff too, from hats to oilskins to thermal wear. Mail order if you need it, and they used to be at the country shows but might have given it away. Yep, buy Aussie made, Aussie wool.
