But didn't GMH/Holden announce they will most likely be ceasing production in Australia in 2016???

No, They have two production lines that will continue after 2016.  That is why they got the $$ everyone seems to be in a twist over. Same as Toyota to develop the Hybrid Camry.  $$ to Ford seems a lost cause, as the 4 cylinder Falcon seems to have flopped, as good a vehicle as it is.

One is committed to the Cruz, the other is yet to to be determined.  It may be a SUV for sale across Asia.  They have also said that there may be an opportunity for the factory to continue producing small runs of special vehicles (like the Caprice Police Pack and the Ute) depending on sales.

We need to get used to the Malibu becoming the next Commodore, FWD as it is.  The platform is nearly the same size, and internal dimensions similar.

Government subsidies to Vehicle manufacturers are par for the course across the world. Keeps associated industry going, and preserves  technoligical skills in the country concerned. Once theyre gone, theyre gone.

Won't buy a Holden now, I am not a fan in any form, of Collingwood, so will not support a business that supports Eddie Everywhere.

Just my 2c.

The last Holden in the family was my late father's HQ sedan, preceded by HR, HD & EK sedans.
Have had 2 XF falcons myself, but otherwise all 'flat' engines - VW & Subaru ... Until today.
Picked up my 2000 Jackaroo Monterey this morning.

As my son is a 4th generation Collingwood supporter, I felt I should show my support for the new sponsor.   :D

Dont care for the Holden, (or Ford for that matter)

But I'm interested in this monkey everybody is going on about.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....
