Two shelf camp table (?)
« on: January 17, 2013, 10:28:33 AM »
One thing we found when away for our first real trip was the lack of shelving or cupboarding.

We've looked since at the various camp cupboards, tables etc, which are ..okay..

However, is there such a beast as a camp table/cupboard which is say 2m long, 500mm wide with top and bottom shelf, and folds flat (??). Doesn't need a back but needs to be relatively sturdy to hold cans, bottles food boxes etc

Or do I get on the circular saw and make one up myself??

I think after looking at that link you should get the saw out.

Kangaron, yes, I did that search, among others, and even though there are some good alternatives, none really match what we are trying to achieve.

Just trying to find the lazy way before I pull out the saw ;)

I bought one of the aluminium platforms from Bunnings.
Like this one.
It has height adjustable legs, and it would be easy as to chuck a plank one the second step...
Multi purpose too, as I can using it instead of a step ladder to reach the top of the annex etc....

Why not go with a trestle table and one of these - simple and takes up root all room - also cheap as dirt.

or

this place has a few ideas...

Theres a bloke on here with a kitchen that would look small in Buckingham Palace, but I cant find the pics.

I think your only option is to make what your thinking about or if your rich, change to a Drifta setup.

heres a few others

Lost, thanks for the links.

We've got a Drifta kitchen which was supposed to be a DPOR but came supplied as a DPO.

We were given the option to get this rectified but SWMBO said that we wouldn't need the extra bench/shelves..........

Some mates of mine had one of the BCF Wandered brand ones shown here (http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/camping/camp-furniture/camp-tables.aspx?id=21303) on a trip early this year. Looked pretty good, but annoying to sit at and put your knees somewhere.

What you are after is surely out there, but there will always be compromises. Good luck.

I would have a chat to Luke at Drifta too see what he can do we have the DSO I would of loved a pull out one but height inside trailer was a bit of an issue, we were away 3 nights over the weekend and no other table set up for the whole weekend other than a small oztrail stool/table for drinks between chairs.  Hope you find what you are after

Asked about this.  Due to the different designs of both kitchens this is not possible. Can't just add it on.

Just a thought have you asked Luke if he could make you the type of table you want?  If he can and price is ok saves the time getting the saw out so more time for camping  :D

Just buy two lengths of tube, a couple of the tent pole clip inserts. Then make a shade cloth " shelf" that slides over the poles, then just clip the poles in. Easy and cheap to do.

We have similar to this table, but not the "under bench" stuff.  Folds flat suitcase style, our legs screw in (well 1/2 of them does), so no dirt from the legs in the camper if stored on the bed.
