The fridge now won't make it through the night.Am I expecting to much or do you think I have a problem with my red ark duel battery setup

You don't say what size battery you have, but it really doesn't matter. If you don't drive far enough to put charge back into the battery, sooner or later it will be flat......

Either turn the fridge off when not being used, or provide alternative/additional charging.

For it to get a good charge, you need to run the car for an hour or so, if not more IOT put some sort of good charge into the Aux battery.

Depends also on how hot it is in the car (if that is where the fridge is), that will effect how hard the fridge has to work and how much power it will draw.

Running a 60ltr fridge for 2 full days on a 100amp hr battery is about max with no charge. I assume that your battery is now flat to the point of no longer running the fridge? If so, you will promptly destroy that battery. Again, assuming it is a standard deep cycle lead acid you really should only be taking it down to 50% State Of Charge which is approximatly 11.8v(give or take depending on battery), any more and you decrease the life of the battery. I have a mate you readly destroys batteries this way.

as mentioned already, sounds like you aren't driving the vehicle far enough to charge the battery properly, so IMHO your expecting to much of the battery.

great thread this one,

I've just been given a CF50 Waeco and I'm trying to figure out the minimum i have to shell out to keep the unit charged while out for a weekends camping (will do the whole dual battery thing correctly later when dollars are available)

My basic understanding is if you have a 100ahr battery only 50 of those amps are available till the battery is at 50% of flat, so if your fridge uses let's say 25 amps per day you will get 2 days

Assuming your fridge is using about 36AH per day, and you have a good
charge rate you would you need to drive for around two hours each day
to put in what your taking out.

Probably a good idea to put your 2nd battery on the car charger overnight to catch it up again mate.  Otherwise if you leave it low like it may be, then you'll damage it permanently.
