This thing looks like a USB drive I once owned, but I love the creativity of their thinking.

You know, I like it! It's a nifty idea. Sure, it will need some kinks worked out, but I love the concept. Smart cookies.

Cheers,
Matto :)

    creativity of their thinking.

I think that's what annoys me the most about "designers" these days... They do a lot of thinking in 3D Studio Max and not a lot of practical thinking. Have these "designers" ever spent a night in a caravan? Have they ever towed one?

Here's a quote from the article: "Wilkie and Winterbourn started contemplating improvements on the design of the traditional caravan because a friend imports caravans from Britain. Discussions about the possible cost-savings of a "flat-packed" caravan at a family picnic, and a Swiss army knife, got the Romotow rolling."

So their friends have imported a caravan........ they got on the turps at a picnic and went home and fired up 3DSMax and now they are caravan designers??

It takes away credit from the real people who are putting innovations into caravans these days - like Kedron, Spinifex, Jayco (yes! Jayco)  and all the rest of the manufacturers who are actually building and selling these things.

A quick glance would come up with these questions:

    • Weight? A double roof and floor must add a lot of weight
    • A Massive pivot point, and the weight of the unit that pivots
    • Gas, power and water etc, all need to go into a central point under the pivot point
    • Anyone care to change a tyre on it?
    • A massive glass window at the front - great for rocks!
    • The jeep pulling it :)
    • etc, etc
    [/list]

And at the end of it all, you have to ask - what benefit is there for a pivoting unit like this? So you get a deck..... big deal.

Sorry for the rant, just seen it too many times where people are going to revolutionise the industry, then the complexities of building their model start to kick in...

What about the fact that to gain clearance to pivot the body, it would have to come forward quite substantially, thereby producing rigidity issues.
But they're engineers, so it will all work out as planned.... ;D

I think it wont appeal to the DC crowd then.......it probably can only run gear at 5V.  ;D ;D ;D
