S.E. Queensland, where to spend a few days with new camper?
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:10:53 AM »
Picking up camper @Aussie Swag, then to Caboolture to have sliders fitted. Where would the ideal place be on the coast to try out our new camper? We don't want to drive to Fraser as time is critical. Bribie Island, Stradbrokes, Byron Bay? We would like to spend a week coming home. Beach or van park is fine.cheers
Wayne

And will any swaggers be out camping in that neck of the woods at the given time?

I reckon Hastings Beach is better than Pottsville but either are good.  The CP at Wooyung Beach is pretty old and ordinary but have stayed there happily.

When are you floating through?  Maybe catch up for a coffee?

Check out the Illaroo campsites at Minnie Water in the Yuraygir National Park near Grafton.

http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/nationalparks/parkCamping.aspx?id=N0040

One of the nicest camp sites I have been to. Definitely worth a look.

Congratulations on the new camper too  And the 76  :cup: Very nice.

Hey Wayne,

Could try Fingal Caravan Park, Northern NSW... great spot on the beach.....

Bribie Island CP http://www.bribieislandcaravanpark.com.au/

If you need anywhere to stay in Brisbane rather than mucking around to set up etc on the first night, you are welcome. PS, I am in the job in QLd....

Cheers

Brunswick Heads has three CPs, all pretty good and an easy drive from the Sunshine Coast. From there Minnie Waters or something around Coffs, then onto Forster. Next would be past Sydney, on the coast if you're happy to take the Princes Highway home.

Don't forget about Illuka, either in the CP at the end of the harbor on the riverside or Woody Head.
Congrats on the camper. If you need any help give me a hoy. We are just down the road from Caboolture.
Cheers

how long exactly do you have? Its only couple hrs from Caboolture to Fraser.

Or you only have 1 night?  2-3 nights, I'd still go to Fraser.

Maybe Wayne saying "time is critical" is just an excuse not to get his new baby dirty.  Think he just wants to keep it on the black top  ;D

C'mon mate, you go to get her dirty sometime.

I would check out Bribie as you are going to be close at Caboolture. At least you can drive there and not worry about barges.  ;D  You might find at this time of the year it will be hard getting a camping site. Bribie is a lovely spot and not far from the factory if, heaven forbid, you have any problems to sort out before you head south again.

Sandy Creek Campin' , just out of Kilcoy,is somewhere I very much liked & want to go back too. Queen Mary Falls near Warwick is also a nice spot to stay & explore the Condomine River, then head down off the hills via Kyogle & end up at Iluka / Woody Head. From there , any number of spots on the Mid North coast of NSW could be home for a night of 2 as you head South again. Last 2 aren't SEQ, but not bad either.

Yep more than happy to buy you a tasty beverage.  Depending on the day I will be home in Warwick or working in Brisvegas.  Either way it will be good to catch up.  Will talk more a bit closer to the date.
