Waeco 32 UP Fridge
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:24:46 AM »
Hi everyone, I have been looking on ebay for a good secondhand fridge for the car and came across one of the Waeco unplugged items. A little research has told me that waeco has discontinued making them and I was wondering if anyone knew why. It seems to me to be a great idea (if not a trade off for additional weight). Are htere problems with the fridge that anyone is aware of? Is anyone out there currently using one?
Cheers, Clarky

Hey Clarky,

I would imagine that the fact that the battery is then needing to be included in Waecos warranty would be one reason.  Rechargeable batteries, are the nightmare of all manufacturers because in order to last they need to be treated right.

This is generally not the case, and they're often treated badly and fail.

If I was you, I would get a CF-40 and if the ease of what the fridge is get a Waeco Raps 36 battery for it.  Works the same, but more serviceable.  Probably larger battery capacity too, but I've not researched that aspect yet.  http://www.tentworld.com.au/products/fridge/item/Waeco-Raps-36-Battery-Pack.aspx

I would guess the demand wasn't there for this fridge. The only one I ever saw was when Broady was doing a product review on it. Got a decent write up from him as I recall.

There are plenty of good, cheap 2nd hand fridges for sale, can't believe how low some of them sell.

Thanks for the feedback. Ended up letting it go, got a bit pricey right at the end.
