Drawbar scales

Does anyone in Brisbane have a set if scales that could be used to weigh down ball weight of drawbar, I know I can go to weigh bridge but want to play around with different loading s nd see how they effect weight, obv weigh bridge won,t want me there for 2 hrs stuffing around ...lol :D

Thanks guys , I did not even think of something like that I just figured the bathroom scores would bust, .

Next prob is the ones we have are the fancy dig type with glass face , might go but a cheap set for the shed.

Jet crew put a phone book on your scales then the jockey wheel to distribute the weight evenly

Most scrap metal dealers will have large scales you could drop your drawbar onto, generally read in 100g increments.
I got a sweater for Xmas, really wanted a moaner or screamer.

What ball weight would you expect it to be Jet?

I know on my work trailer with the big ride-on, i can easily lift it off the ball and onto the jockey wheel.

I might see what it is on the work trailer tomorrow with the bathroom scales and as i'm bringing the CT home tomorrow to ready it for Fraser, it would be a good idea to check that as well.

Yes let us know the ball weight, I have lifted a couple of trackabouts up at the toe ball end and thought they seemed little heavy, but that's just me and they are probably fine.

I have a set of 25 year old bath room scales and I use a jack stand, put it on the scales measure the weight and then put it under the hitch, wind down the jockey wheel and presto you have your tow ball weight, remember to take away the jack stand weight. My scales well actually go right around so it will measure just add the extra  ;D

I borrowed my neighbours scales, used mine as well with a piece of timber across the 2 scales to spread the weight......

I will be hopping 150kg or less , but may have to do some things to get it down as 70kg of Agm on drawbar does not help,

This is to do with the trition and my fixation to stay within GVM and GCVM for my next big trip.

Been on new trition and the lads over there are a great source of info our member here 4wd26 is a mod over there and he,s prob forgotten more Than i will learn about all things trition and touring , I have a thread running over there and he s checking all my calcs  for me.

It will be an interesting process to have the entire setup within specs as I have never even bothered to check before, so it's certainly opening my eyes to a few things .

Car off to weigh bridge on Monday to see just hw much of the 944kg payload I have used up just in accessories . Then see what I have left after adding tow ball weight.

My ins comp has told me that with chasiss  issues these days they are now documenting and weighing equip before payouts repairs and if you have exceeded GVM then your in the poo..

Will keep you informed .
