RAIN ON DUST OUTBACK SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Over 8 weeks of travelling up and down the Oodnadatta and Birdsville tracks in remote South Australia I documented rivers and creeks in flood, many that feed into Lake Eyre. Some of this country has not been accessed by anyone but me and I had to make my own track into several areas to be able to film it properly. I damaged my car in the process of 1 trip out. Some of this land has been dry for years and the change after water is just amazing to see. I used my Phantom 4 pro for most of this footage and my mobile phone for 1 small section of footage I took from the ground and 1 section of the swans with my camera and a 500mm lens. As I am still learning about filming and editing and there is a lot to learn but it is fun and has given me a chance to document areas with the height required at minimal cost and at the right time of day and the right angle which generally I could not have achieved in a plane or helicopter. Just like normal photography composition and light are crucial in the air for the best results and I camped out here every visit to make it happen looking for different elements to document or the same ones in different light. This is just a small sample of the footage and photos I took bundled into 5 and a half minutes.
