I put one of these photos up on my 4wd build thread, but thought more would be able to enjoy these fantastic photos through here.
Long story short this is SWMBO car getting pulled out of the Hume Dam on sunday afternoon.
basically lost traction, slid back a meter or two, the empty gas tank provided buoyancy and the car decided to float away with the trailer attached.
My other half chucked it in park, climbed out through the window whilst I ran to get the patrol.
By the time I got the patrol down to the ramp the car was underwater a good 30m away from the edge and we couldn't get down deep enough to attach a strap.
As it turned out, this particular ramp is supposed to be able to be used when the dam is at 5% and it was at 99%. So the concrete is a good 200m or so in length which is why the car went so far.
When the Divers turned up, from the top of the bullbar to the top of the water was 2.8m, from the towbar to the top of the water was 5m, so it gives you a good idea of how steep the ramp actually is.
All this happened in less than 3min, and whilst embarrassing, was definitely out of anyones control.
We found out from the divers, they have pulled out around 3 cars in the last couple of weeks alone.
Anyway have a giggle and enjoy the photos. If I can work out how to upload videos I will put a couple up.
Cheers
