Interesting comments. Doing trips, whether you have 2 or 20 cars, will always require planning depending on numbers.
The Cape trip this year we had 27 people and we broke up into numerous groups even down to 4 cars in one group.
Yes some people don't like traveling in large groups and some people do, it depends on how confident you are in traveling to the intended location and whether you have the right amount of knowledge and expertise in doing that trip. Everyone has their own ideas and that is understandable.
The articles are all about helping people plan and understand what to expect when they visit these places.

Most articles start with the group at "a point on the trip".. none of the background nightmares the TL has gone through.
I'm talking about planning remote trips (EG: your experience with the cape) for 1 - x cars but more the how to start planning, where to check if they need permits to go to <where ever>. I know a bloke in my club does a 6 week trip every year, and one he did couple of years ago took something like 9mths of planning to get permits. That could really derail someones trip plans if they thought it was an overnight process! LOL!
We have people in our club who ask "how do I plan a trip to <<insert very remote location>>. in our case, we have some really experienced people, so thats easy. but many people dont.
As you say, nearly any trip requires planning, but the amount of planning varies, as does the amount of time you need to plan them .. eg: permits etc.
I know a bloke whose sister thought a week was enough time to plan a trip from Melbourne to Fraser, inc gettin the car wired up, buying a fridge the works.
Anyway, its just a thought, maybe its been done before in magazines, I dont buy em.
