Aussie Jays campers vs Emu Camper trailers
« on: November 13, 2012, 06:40:46 PM »
Hi everyone
This is my first post on here. My husband and I are looking to purchase a camper trailer after recently going away with friends who have one. The problem is we know nothing about them really. I have searched the internet day and night and have realised there are a lot of inferior campers out there. We are looking to spend about $8000 - $9000 and are very interested in either Aussie Jay campers (vic) or Emu campers (qld) we live in victoria but are going on holidays in march to the gold coast so thought we might check out Emu while we were there. Just wanted to know if anyone out there has much experience with either of these or can recommend one over the other. Any information good or bad would be greatly appreciated. We will really only be using it for caravan parks and basic camping and will not be heading off road as we don't have the car for it.
Thanks!

Hi and welcome.  Yep we are spoilt for choice with campers.  I have an Aussie jays, as do a few on here.  I am very happy with mine and with Jason's service. Don't know anything about emu campers.

G'day cayla13

Firstly, welcome to MySwag. You've come to the right place if you're after info on ct's. Fantastic mob on here, friendly and full of advice we are ;D

We have an Aussie Jay's Big Red, and couldn't be happier with it. Extremely well built and IMO, excellent value for money. As Heath said, the service and advice you get from Jason and Rebekah is also excellent.

Ours has the Austrack tent on it, but they recently changed to a different spec tent. There are quite a few on here with the newer tents who will be able to comment on them, but from what I've seen and heard they are very good.

If you never intend to go offroad, then maybe think about the Wallaby, or even the Joey. We don't have the car for rugged offroad use yet either, but decided to "future proof" with the Big Red as we will be upgrading cars within 12 months.

Don't rule out other brands either. Check out the classifieds page here,  there's some good bargains to be found.

Good luck with the search, I reckon it's half the fun. ;D

Cheers

Sorry I have no experience with either brand BUT welcome to the swagger family.  I'm sure somebody will be able to help.

Happy camping

i would suggest looking at austrack in sunshine coast.. they can sort a trailer and deliver down to you for that money.

we absolutely love the 12ft adventurer from austrack. all the little thoughts and design features impress us at every glance. good luck with your choice and welcome to the forum! :)

btw - austrack make their trailers in aus but the tents are imported to their spec.

Thanks for your feedback everone, very much appreciated. Seems like a great group of people on here. My husband is hopefully going to see Jason tonight to check out his campers in person so hopefully we will be happy camper trailer owners in the near future.

That's a good idea.  It was meeting Jason and having a chat that sold me.  But as has been said there are some good bargains out there 2 nd hand if you are patient.

Good luck.
