Dinette from Jayco Swan
« on: November 12, 2012, 03:41:43 PM »
Hi,
I am thinking about changing the layout inside my Jayco Lark. More specifically, I am interested in smaller dinnete like they have in the Jayco Swan, where the table and benches attach to the door side wall. I am not sure how much room a decent size dinnete with occupy.

I was hoping that someone with a swan would be able to measure the length and width of the area that the table and bench seats occupy.

It looks like it would sit 4 people easily. I was wondering whether 2 adults and 3 little kids would work. Any thoughts on that would also be appreciated.

Mate length area is 1760mm | width is 920mm |

Table is 600mm wide. really suits 4 but could squeeze in 3 little kids

Cheers

Thanks heaps. I will be pulling out my old girl on the weekend; so will measure it up to visualise the size. I currently have a very large table and bench seats in the Jaylark. It is handy sometimes, but I think I would prefer some additional benchspace and cupboards on the non-door wall, and to sacrifice some seating capacity.  The swan is a classic layout that seems to have survived a long time.

I also need to find a place to sleep my youngest, who is currently in a cot. I reckon next year she will be out of the cot. I was thinking she could easily sleep on a swan sized dinnete. My current table and chairs would equate to double bed sized sleeping area.

My youngest girl is 18 months. She currently sleeps in the kitchen area in a portacot. I 'm actually looking at alternatives now to put some sort of barrier up to stop her rolling out when we take her out of the cot.
My initial thoughts were to do something similar to what jayco do down one bed end.

I have a 5yo and 4yo who sleep in one of the bed ends. I have a railing, that is really just the old bed railing that I used to stop them falling off their own bed at home. It folds down and does the job nicely.

I also have a 2yo. Like yours, she is currently in a portacot. In the future, I plan for her to sleep on the table when it is folded down. I will also need some sort of wall or restraint to stop her rolling onto the floor.

I always thought it would be easy to make something like the dometic bed nets, with some dowling, mesh and webbing.

I think the new swans have a higher base. The kitchen sink and cupboard in my Jaylark fold down lower for travel, with the help of a sprung unit. If I add cupboards I may need to keep the bench height low, or come up with a way of lowering the cupboard for travelling.Do you know how did the old Swans dealt with the challenge?

I have about 1350mm of length to work with. I suspect that this will not be enough. I could maybe trim the width of the table and bench seats.

I could get more space by moving the fridge to the other side, but I think that will just cause other problems. Not to mention expensive, beyond my capabilities, and just not worth the effort generally.

I suspect that I will need to put this idea on the back burner.
