Oztent or Black wolf?
« on: October 30, 2012, 12:40:37 AM »
I don't know why, but the 15 yo wants to move out (of the camper)! She is keen on her own little place and is also thinking about her 1st car.
Any advice on the best tent? I want something that she'll still have after the first big storm or windy night. Also something lightish, easy to pack and go, easy to set up and take down, and will fit in / on a little Rav4 or Suzuki or Jimny. All advice appreciated.
J
Love weekend camping whenever we can in our 2002 Cub Spacematic (Transcontinental Pack) with the 80series LC. See you out there!! J

Both are exc tents but disadvantage of the Oztent is that you have to have a station wagon or roof racks to store it as it packs up in a very long case. Then security is the problem if you have to put it on racks. The Blackwolf  is even better now as they sell the PLUS version which has more room at the rear.

Hi J
I have a Blackwolf 270 and a RV5 they both have the same footprint set up but with two stretcher beds in the Blackwolf you cant move around I know its only for your 15yo now but you will get a bit more use if you go the Oztent as you can add side walls and the front to extend the living/sleeping area later if you want

Cheers Michael

I have had excellent use out of my Freedom tents.  They are solid canvas tents which will last for ever, but not light.  The Minute tents 12 kg are great if you don't mind a pole in the middle, 4 pegs only.

Does she really need a $1000 tent to sleep in occasionally?

What about a $200 dome tent?

I'm with lost. One of those fast setup tents that open up as you take them out of the bag.
My alternative to cheap import trailers;

We have the BlackWolf 240 and it has been a great tent.
Our oldest, now 9, has her own little dome tent and she loves it. She is using her own tent for 2 years now.

Why not a OZ trail canvas touring tent. Pole up the centre and she is up.

My daughter has had hers for the last 3 years and they are a around $300.

We're getting one for our teenagers who have outgrown the CT floor

Oztrail Tourer 9 Plus

Side Pole Kit

No affiliation with the above, just think it's good value.

cheers
