Beer cans

So I encounter a problem on my way home from Bathurst.

I had a few beer and scotch cand in the fridge in the back of the D40 Navara.

When I stopped there was beer and scotch everywhere - oh the waste.

It appears the cans rubbed pin holes in each other.

Has anybody else had this happen?

No.......I've never come home from Bathurst with beers.....this would be a very rare occurrence.

Disaster!!!!!

Had it happen a few times, many years ago..........never again.

A similar thing will happen with stubbies floating around in esky water.......they bang together and break the seal on the caps.

There's a few things you can do, but they all involve stopping the cans from rubbing together.

You can.......

........drink all your grog before travelling
........pack the empty space in the esky/fridge with towels (it helps, but they can still rub)
........put a rubber band around the top and bottom of each can (gotta pack to keep the cans upright)
........put cardboard 6-pack carry boxes from Crownies in the fridge to separate the cans (my favourite  :cup:.....drink beer, use box....too easy)

Just a few suggestions.......I'm sure there are plenty of other ways.........

You obviously haven't research this enough.  We use These, but you can also buy these.  Neoprene ... not just for surfing!  They also can do "wine" bottles, but we prefer to use those for spirits as wine is for pussies ladies.

Had the same thing happen years ago on the way to the Birdsville Races.  We had an old fridge laying down in a trailer for an esky, full of cans of XXXX.  By the time we got to Birdsville and checked the "big" esky, all the yellow had rubbed off the cans and alot of them were empty.

Never fell for that trap again!

The tow car was a 1966 VC valiant, and I learnt some other lessons on the same trip actually, but thats another story!,

Years ago when we used to know it was almost Xmas because of the end of year beer workers strike , l was working  for TNT transport , the pubs in Colac were almost dry so they arranged a full trailer of Fosters to be delivered fron Cairns to a secret location in the town . Very huss huss as it was strike breaking . When the truck arrived it stank of warm stale beer as of the 40 pallets of cans almost all had suffered rubbing damage .Only lost about 120 dozen or so  >:D insurance job . l was dispatched to gather samples & take pics of said same . l returned with 100 D in the back of the truck . Driving back to a dry town with that much samples was a whole other trip indeed
That rubbing can rip the fizz out of your cans so the $2 shop light rubber grip stuff as mentioned is ideal . Cut into strips so the cans can be packed in layers  , or just drink them quicker  :cheers:

Yep - I can recommend the rubber band trick. Worked a treat on our trip to the cape a few years ago. Bit of a pain unpacking and repacking all the cartons of beer though.
