Right now I'm a bit choked. Well, a lot choked - and a little pissed. I know to many, football is just a game and appears a ridiculous thing to be so passionate about, but I was born in Hawthorn territory, Peter Knights (Hawthorn legend) use to kick a ball with me when i was a youngen I grew up one street number from Subiaco Oval. As a Shitty little kid, I would be the one to interrupt Victoria's training sessions for state of origin games to chat to Tuck, Platten, Ayres, Collins, Langford, Dippa and Dermy and kick the ball back to them when they kicked it over the fence. Football and music have been the biggest part of my life.Saturday I witnessed a game that proved to me why AFL is THE GREATEST GAME IN THE WORLD. Football makes deadheads become inspirational citizens in our community like no other industry.
The passion and desperation today, from both teams was nothing short of inspirational. To see hundreds of people in a pub (which would have happened all over Australia) so emotional shows why it means so much to us. To see blokes come from nowhere and anywhere, in front of a hundred thousand people kick a winning goal, no matter who it is, sends shivers like nothing else.
As a Hawks supporter, no other team has given more glory in my lifetime than them. About 15 years ago, we were on the brink to now one of the strongest sides in the comp and it makes me so proud. Saturday, all game plans were thrown out the window. It came down to a game of desperation and I could see from earlier on in the season, Swans were bloody desperate. They have a culture like I've never seen before and truly deserve this premiership. In saying that, so did Hawks. Right now I'm choked, but right now I am so proud to be a Hawthorn supporter and football lover. To all people who don't love the game, you really are missing out. GF day was a testament to why our country has embraced this game so much. You are amazing Swans. Hawks, lets be amazinger next year
