Could this be used for a side awning?
« on: September 22, 2012, 08:08:30 PM »
What do you all think. I was thinking of getting a side awning. But I am limited to a rack only over the Cab of the Hilux (getting ARB Cab rack http://www.arb.com.au/products/roof-racks-and-roof-bars/roof-racks/cab-racks/). So i was just surfing and found this. What do you all think could this be used? Talk about space under it.
Also how much over hang would be ok off front and rear. Was looking at the tigers11 brand straight out...
See below links.

Does any one have the ARB Cab rack, and can they tell me how long they are? I cant get to ARB for 4 Weeks to see.

On my dual cab Navara the front of the awning hangs 500mm in front of the rack and the back is 1100 mm behind the rack.
Because I don't carry alot of stuff on top of my ute I purchased an smaller basket so I can still have the awning mounted and the basket stays centered on top.
This is my awning. I dont have any pictures of it setup with the basket as well.

I also didn't want the awning to hang to further off the side of my Nav than the racks. So I made a spacer in order to move the rack further in and to lift it 10 mm higher so the zipper would clear the end of my racks.

Cheers for the info and set up Bill. Nice Nav. I had a D22 before the Lux. Good to know it can over hang a bit and still be ok.

These guys have a few options. You can get them at Opposite Lock.

I think mine is the 2.5 metre retractable one from memory.
