Snowy river flooding
« on: September 21, 2012, 07:37:54 PM »
Ok guys, bit of a long shot,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm heading down to Berridale/Dalgety on the October long weekend, but, they have been letting a lot of water out of Jindabyne dam this month..
The property i'm going to, of Werralong rd, has a ford over the Snowy river,,,............ so that is my problem... is it going to be to high by the 28th of this month..??????????????
Any locals have any insight for me.?

Steve

I know my wife's school has had to alter a rafting trip due to the water levels, they are deemed dangerous at the moment.

yeah.. very tricky at the moment.. going by the web site,, water release will peak early next week and should settle down by the friday, Some very high levels are forcast, a mate was down there in June, (when i was due to go) He said he got in ok,,, but after 3 days the river came up, went from 20 mtrs wide to around 80 mtrs across, he was stuck for another 4 days.! Said the depth was way to deep to even think about trying to cross,  So rather than take a gamble and drive all the way there for nothing would like some local knowledge if someone lives down that way..

It will be a close call, depending on how the river holds the standing flow, there a few unknown variables from the flooding earlier in the year. The high volume release is suppose to reduced by the 30/9/2012

Current telemetry has the level around 1.7m at dalgety weir

Awsome, thanks Tas,,, got one of the guys going down tomorrow, but think that it will be at its peak then, dont like his chances.
