MELBOURNE - Where to Camp
« on: September 19, 2012, 09:32:32 AM »
Travelling the east coast in our caravan. In Brisbane we stayed at Caboolture Showgrounds and caught the train into Brisbane. In Sydney we stayed at Wanderest in Richmond (real good camp) and caught train to Sydney.

Staying out of caravan parks, does anyone have any suggestions for Melbourne where we might camp and train it into the city?

Thanks in advance.

Out around Taralgon or that area is doable, specially if you were happy doing Richmond to Sydney CBD!!!!!!

Boar Gully Camp Ground in The Brisbane Ranges N.P.  1 hour West of melb.  Catch the train into city from Ballan. Train trip is just under an hour and there is a train every hour. Boar Gully is a lovely spot and is an easy drive to Geelong, Ballarat, The surf coast or Daylesford.  Rod.

Checkout http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/

Yarra Valley Parklands and Lerderderg State Park both have camping and a short drive to a train station. I haven't been to either so caveat emptor.

D4D's carport. He has an on-site Goldstream set up in there. It's not up on blocks with a flower garden around it yet, but...

Cheers!

You could try Goshens Paddock.... It won't be used after this weekend.
