Bad 24 hours in Afghanistan
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:56:50 PM »
At a press conference this afternoon, Air Marshall Mark Binskin confirmed the news of the latest tragic incidents

5 diggers have been killed in 2 separate incidents in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours. In one incident 3 soldiers were killed and another 2 injured when a person dressed in Afghan National Army uniform opened fire on a group of soldiers inside our forward operating base.

Two soldiers died after a US Black Hawk crashed during landing this morning.

Defence investigation teams will be heading to Afghanistan to investigate both incidents.

Tragic news. With a great great uncle who died in Fromelles, and both grandfathers (whom I never got to meet) having died serving their country during WW2, my thoughts go out to the loved ones and comrades of these brave diggers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Maybe it's time to bring the boys home and let the Afghans fend for themselves. We've done enough and if they can't sort themselves out from here on as a fair and democratic country then tough luck.

Deadsh*ts in the Taliban, let the persecuted women and children go so they can get a new start in a peaceful country and then you can fend for yourselves. When you want to wake up and join the 21st century call us. Same for you d*ckheads in Somalia.

I have had my brother and best mate over there in Afghan serving in the army and I hated every minute he was there.

I spent 5 days at an event with a guy who was in Aus special forces and had returned from Afghanistan.... he was next to one of our soldiers that got shot and died a while ago.

As much as he had seen, he still believed being there was the right thing to do.

Mark.
