Friday avro I had a P plater show me that there must have been a change in the NSW road rules.

Apparently these days to do a U turn you indicate right pull off the road and then hook it in front of any traffic that is behind you. talk about testing the breaks out! maybe I should have shown him what happens when a little 4 pot gets hit with a landcruiser with a bullbar. would have been slow enough to crease the entire right hand side of his car but not enough to squash him.

I know as a P plater I was bad but I wasn't stupid!
Need to get the backside into gear and get out camping

Yes, the school generation that was instilled with all the knowledge about 'their rights' , but none about the responsabilities that go with those rights, are now on their P  plates. Expect things to get worse in terms of accidents as they try to enforce their road 'rights' by jumping into the braking space of semi trailers, U turn at traffic lights (illegal in NSW)  and other brain dead, unexpected  things on the road.
If life is stranger than you think, then it means you need to let your imagination off the leash more.

Just like p platers in the past and in the future. It's not a recent thing, new drivers do stupid things because they don't have the experience yet. It's the drivers with 20 years experience doing the stupid things that are more if a worry

I had a 5 day old BMW do similar to me about 10 years ago now only it was wet roads, down hill & 100km/hr zone = not good!!!! Wish I took a photo of the end result...would make people think/look at what their doing.
End result was a totalled BM with my Suzuki parked on its roof (scary ride up there but locking the hubs and driving it of the previously undamaged front was a crowd pleaser)
best part in the end was BMW driver got booked, car got towed as it was a real mess. I drove away after going over the car looking for damage. Needed my bull bar resprayed/ that was it ;D
The BMW guy's insurance company sent me the bill around 4 months later....ouch!!!! He had a story change, glad I had the police involved, return to sender that bill.

I told BM driver how lucky he was & that if I was in my truck & not the Suzuki I wouldn't of been talking to him at all.

Heading straight through the round-about not long ago, had learner come in from my left to turn left, forcing me on my brakes  :o
Obviously me jumping on the horn had NO effect on him. 30m down the road, on with his right blinker, pull to the right, I go to go up his inside, he decides he wants to go to the servo on the left instead...forcing me to jump on the brakes again!!!   >:(

No point blasting the horn, has no effect. I follow him in & start pointing out how his mother kept the wrong part...the after-birth is suppose to thrown out!
His father gets out & asked "I give the kid a break, he's just learning". I advise said father that "perhaps the kid stop learning till he can find someone to teach him, for the sake of the community, & all other road users!"

I've had this happen to me a few times now, WTF? yes and they are P platers.
Yep, their move to the left with the right hand indicator on and do a U turn in front of you.
It must take too much time out of their day to pull to the left, indicate and wait for the road to be clear before U turning.
The amount of motorists that do U turns across solid lines.
I don't know if this the correct issue of the Road users Handbook
U-Turns, page 93

This gets rolled out every few weeks... This is nothing new. But will get worse...

Kids are taught to pass their license test, not how to drive.

Also what is it with people tat are turn swinging out to other direction at the last minute??? eg when turning their car right they swing left first. Do they think their pulling a road train when really driving a mini???? Not good when your trying to pass them and they do this.

Best one is over here in WA, They must have changed the law without telling most of us because you can now make a U turn at traffic lights. Doesnt matter if there is  traffic coming the other way they just chuck a U'y.

Totally agree mate.

Kids are taught to pass their license test, not how to drive.

This is very true of some. There are others whose parents decide to teach their kids how to drive because you want them to live. That is what I did, don't drive just for yourself but everyone on the road.

Apparently you can now change lanes into the right lane from the left without giving way to the right as long as you have your indicator on ::)

I find the biggest offenders of no turn signals are people in expensive european cars.. I think its to do with the RHD conversion from factory, they forget to reconnect the wiring loom

and **** knows what happened to KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING .. apparently the bacon (both of them) were going to have a "CRACKDOWN" on this in the last few months...
They could clear the national debt with the arsehats in the right lane on the Eastlink alone who think its their job to sit 10-15kph under the limit and drive until 100mtrs before their exit, then stand on the brakes and cut off 4 B Doubles, and cause a 8 car pile up and then continue on their way. They should ban everyone else off the road until I personally approve their license.

This is what happened locally when a P plater did a u-turn in front of traffic last week. I saw the car afterwards and the occupants were lucky to be alive. A lot of very shaken kids on the bus but fortunately no injuries.

I thought that indicator bulbs were an optional extra that most didn't opt for?
