Man in hot water over smoky BBQ
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:47:34 PM »
Some poor bugger copping it over his OZPig.

http://www.dailymercury.com.au/story/2012/08/07/man-hot-water-over-smoky-bbq-mackay/?utm_source=Twitter+daily_mercury&utm_medium=twitterfeed&utm_campaign=Twitter

Probably needs a couple of extra breathers and drier wood.  That usually cures the problem.

I'm actually impressed that the brand of barbie (even though it isn't strictly a BBQ) made it into the story.

Oh the humanity ... :-)

It simply says this:

Man in hot water over smoky BBQ / 7th August 2012 11:11 AM / Tags: barbecue, bbq, smoke  / WHEN is it not cool to have an Aussie barbecue?  / One South Mackay resident has landed in hot water after being told that his Ozpig barbecue was making too much smoke.  / Find out what your rights are with having a barbecue in tomorrow's edition of the Daily Mercury.

Not much of a story per say ... got any details gacoxd??

He he no Sorry Kit_e Kat.

This poor excuse for a newspaper is the local rag in my old home town and for sh*ts and giggles I started following it on twitter.

The OZPig caught my eye and as a fiercely loyal OzPig owner I was rushing to its defence but it seems it was a false alarm.

It really is a cr@p paper.

As am I gacoxd!  They really are a great little unit.  Some people just have Shitty neighbours ... I have one that thinks the lighting of any fire is strictly prohibited if it isn't hers ... I'll be interested to see what the paper prints tomorrow about smokey bbq's and the law!   ;D  Keep your eyes open please?

I didnt read the article, but I know the saga.
one of the many issues we had whilst living in our ground floor appaetment in Italy. Had a small courtyard.
Block of 4 appartments. Two on the bottom with courtyard. 2 on top with balcony.
Separate entrances each side.

The final straw that broke the camels back was when they tried to Han me from having a BBQ. A gas BBQ.  Apparently complaints from the lower neighbour that the smoke from our gas BBQ was rising up and over the dividing wall, but then remarkably went down again and then into this nut cases window and apparently filled her flat with smoke. From cooking sausages on a gas BBQ with a hood.

Try to ban N Aussie from having a BBQ.!!

Apparently it was all right for the same neighbor to have a fire in the courtyard, that's ok accused she was burning rubbish, and thats pk
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

It's my home town and I love the place (maybe will get to go back to live there one day) but The Mercury has got to be the most overpriced newspaper in the country.

Hey Nick!
Do they still do the Muckay Mockery for charity during the show period?

Reading betwee the lines, this is really a story about a community that must be doing alright to have such a pathetic issue make the papers. Twice. One presumes there are not a bunch of more serious issues that could be published.

I think some neighbours need to go and get a life.
In Herberton where I live there are quite a few people still only have wood stoves in there home for cooking, you can see these every morning when they relight them by the smoke rising from there chimneys.

"In other news from South Mackay, several dogs were barking..."

LOL!  What page of the paper was that on?   Ha Ha Ha ... I think this bloke needs neighbours that have less (how shall I put this?) time on their hands.   ;D

I wonder if tomorrow in the paper, there will be a story about the council sending Barking Notices to several of his neighbours?

Oh the woven webs of suburbia!!  I guess this is why we all enjoy camping so much??  So we may light our OzPiggies to our hearts content.

Kit_e

P.S.  Maybe this guy needs a camper trailer and associated forum??

Hey Nick, I was expecting to see your photo when I read the headline!  Bloody whingeing Mackay residents and a council with nothing better to do than send me huge rates bills.  >:(

There is more today!!  Even the OzPig owner got involved.   And there is a poll with results so far in the smokey bbq owners favour.

Good to see it's not just where I live. My kids made the local rag recently for "Riding their scooters and playing on the street."

I recall my parents asking me to "go play on the highway" ... back then it wasn't so busy though.  LOL!

There's one or two down every street , particularly the leafy burbs or my Norfolk Island bepined one, but I reckon Adelaide takes the prize per square metre, for more hyphenated-hyperventilating matrons and their nutless handbag accessories nowadays. Just don't get me started on their schoolgirl vapours over those big fat krill killers, propellor benders and stinking chainsaw blunters orright..!!

Another Australian Standard for backyard barbies and emissions, with Nationally coordinated Laws Regulations, here they come and Gawdelp the future generation!

Now where's me bloody Diazepam and tinfoil hat woman....!! >:(

Shouldnt you have them wrapped in cotten wool at home in front of the TV / vidio screen , out of the sun & away from any other kids . Other kids may have a cold or worse . Just what sort of a parent are you letting your kids create there own fun , next they might develop an imagination . Then where would we be  . Or not as the case may be

Presumably the pantywaists and girliemen running the show nowadays want your firemen to be appropriately chaperoned when rescuing your kiddies-

Sorry, that should be firepersons lest someone, somewhere hyperventilates or gets offended and goes into post traumatic shock. Sheesh.
