Day 8
Well today was the last day for the majority of the MySwaggers so most decided to do a bit of exploring for them selves to see a few of the many beautiful sites on Fraser. Today we also had to farewell Nick08 as he headed home. Yogi, Amanda and V8ute (Simon, Monique and Dylan), Frostd, Jetcrew and DaznBec all headed north, after getting to the Champagne Pools by-pass road we parted ways. Yogi, Amanda and V8ute headed off for the day at Waddy Point and Frostd, Jetcrew and DaznBec headed to Wathumba Creek lead by Frostd. It was a beautiful day at Waddy Point we had the place to ourselves with it being low tide it had left a nice little lagoon which was perfect for a quick dip or even better to lie back on the inflatable ring with a beer - right Yogi. Simon, Monique, Yogi and Dylan had an active session of frisbee whilst Amanda relaxed in the shade of the 80 series Fox wing. A little later the V8ute family went for a walk around the headland to check out the view and do a little exploring, Dylan found some great sea life in the rock pools and V8ute go some great shots. Lunch was soon approaching and over the UHF heard ‘Yogi / V8ute do you copy’ which Amanda soon answered and on the other end was the venturers from Wathumba Creek and soon joined Yogi, Amanda and V8ute at Waddy Point for lunch. As most used the day to discover different spots on Fraser, Blueroo made the trip to Stonetool Sandblow and Niley attempted a visit to the Valley of the Giants however the mission was unsuccessful with the track being extremely overgrown and fallen trees across the track it appeared that it had been sometime since anyone had driven this track. Sablesoft did the senic lakes drive and noted that he never saw another soul the whole trip. After lunch at Waddy Point V8ute, Frostd, Yogi, Amanda and DaznBec stopped at the Orchid Beach store for a few supplies which then V8ute, Yogi and Amanda decided to stick around for a few minutes to see a light plane take off for the old air strip. From here it was time to head back to camp for everyone to come together for happy hour and the major donation draw and the announcing of the lolly jar winners. Before the draw could commence there was a chance to by some more last minute tickets especially from a few who had their eye on certain prizes and a few more entries towards guessing the lolly jars. Before proceedings and awaiting the arrival of a few MySwaggers we were lucky enough to be visited by a ranger to inspect the ‘Pig’ or fondly referred to as the ‘Boar’ and it passed with flying colours – thumbs up from all who took part in the conversation.

Well done to all winners and again thank you for the extreme generosity of the donating parties and also thank you to those generous parties on Fraser for purchasing so many tickets. We’re sure Amanda had writer’s cramp in the end and not to forget those who assisted Amanda with writing out the tickets and folding them to make it fair for all.
Now since the major prizes were drawn it was time for the lolly jars, everyone was on the edge of their seats when Amanda announce that the Chumpa Chups had an outright winner which was Leeia with a correct guess of 71 – well done Leeia, the Red Frogs were won by Melissa with a last minute entry and guessed the exact number of 137 Natalie was the closest until Melissa’s entry – well done Melissa and at least it’s kept within the family and the last jar of Jelly Babies did not have an exact guess but Ethan guessed 185 which the correct number was 186 and the next close guesses were 194 and 175 – so well done Ethan. Everyone stuck around for some more giveaways from Ute 701 – which the kids were extremely excited about. So were the adults until we found out that the 2 home solar panels were already mounted on the roof of the stress balls everyone was holding ….. (you had to be there). I thought everyone would have been going home lighter, well that was Yogi’s and Amanda’s intention and well they succeeded. Everyone thanked Yogi and Amanda’s efforts for the introduction to Fraser Island and all the effort they went to for the day trips and activities at camp. Overall the MySwag Fraser Fiasco 2012 trip raised:- $1,657.00 for the raffle, $59.00 for the lolly jar guesses, $101.00 for the Beefy Pies Fundraiser, $238.00 for the Seahorse Races and Bec’s find of $0.50 at Wathumba Creek – in total we raised $2,055.50. Awesome effort everyone. All the MySwaggers stuck around for some more drinks and food and watched the full moon rise which was absolutely spectacular and soon everyone made their way back to their camps to organise dinner and showers. Yogi and Amanda were extremely delighted with V8ute’s invitation to dinner, which we enjoyed a beautifully cooked beef roast with all the trimmings and Yogi and Amanda bought along dessert of sticky date pudding with custard or cream or even both for everyone to share. The temperature dropped dramatically at Ramsey Street North with a strong wind coming down the hill, the men ventured to camp Yogi to see what the high tide was doing after the excitement of the night before of the odd wave making it within inches of Yogi’s camper trailer jockey wheel and just going under the trailer however the water did make the tyre of the 80 series – it was a non event that night after the wall building efforts of Yogi, Troy, Niley, Ute 701 and Blueroo. Also that afternoon the kids also helped build the wall higher for some great thank you presents from Yogi and Amanda. The ladies found refuse at V8ute’s camp from the wind and after their return to Ramsey Street North it was commented that there was no wind at Yogi and Amanda’s camp and the temperature would easily be at least a 10 degrees difference. Everyone slowly ventured off to bed where it would be possibly warmed, Yogi and Amanda wished everyone good night and after arriving back at camp did comment on the difference in temperature. As majority were leaving the next day it wasn’t an overly late night.
