Who got a deal at a Jayco Dealer?
« on: July 28, 2012, 08:36:49 PM »
Hey Guys,

Looking at buying a Jayco camper soon and have been tossing up New VS Second Hand.....

Just wondering if anybody had experienced a "awesome deal" with a Jayco dealer or are they
"here is the RRP, take it or leave it" as they are so popular?

Please feel free to point me to any dealers worth visiting!

I'm in the same boat as you, so what I did was email most of the Jayco dealers in Vic,NSW & Qld with a list of options I wanted & requested a quote, I also emailed all of them at the same time so they could see they were competing against each other.
What I did discover was the Vic dealers could do a better price than the other states mainly due to freight

That is a good idea. Email them all and let them fight for the business!

I dont mind picking it up from Vic, Page Bros in Seaford were real nice when we were in there and said
that they will always do the best deal.

To be really honest, I am also looking at throwing so money into my 4wd and I am sick of places just giving you RRP....
I can get that anywhere!

Your right GG there are a few around but I am trying to decide if Jayco can come to the party and do a deal! I like the idea of
a nice new camper! :-)

But in saying that there are some good deals that pop up every now and then on the second hand market.

What is a good deal? $1k - 2k off rrp or 2k worth of extras? Like what are we talking?

We went to our local dealer as well as to their display at caravan and camping show- couldn't even get served. Called in at another dealer along the coast on a trip home from QLD- sales bloke knew he had one chance to sell us something as soon as he knew we weren't locals. Offered us 2k+ off rrp as well as 2k in extras. Granted it was a stock model for them so we couldn't customize, but it was too good a deal to let go. Customer service A1.
Always planning my next adventure.

This is a timely thread for me also as I'm tossing up between new (2012 order) and near new (2011) Jayco Dove OB.
I remember reading somewhere about dealers having a 22% margin to work with???

2 months ago we bought a 2010 Eagle that was purchased in March 2011, so about 1 year old. On road version, with full annexe and in fantastic condition. It's done one trip out west so got some red dust stains underneath but otherwise as new. Full bed flies as well. We paid $18000 for it - WAAAY less than new price. We sold the annexe and awning and replaced it with a Fiamma awning as we want quicker set up. Sold the annexe for the same price as the Fiamma awning so straight swap.

There are some great buys out there if you search. We have got an "as new" product for second hand price.

Very Nice! How does this Fiamma hold up? Yes, all eyes are peeled for the second hand as new bargain!

Thanks Sickgm,

We haven't used the awning yet - grrr - going to Seal Rocks in a couple of weeks to try it out. I have owned one before on a horse float and loved it so much I was adamant I wanted one on the camper too. I have a tie down strap for it so it protects it in the windy weather. A friend also had one on her float, and it held up to such strong winds, tents nearby were being flattened - I must admit, if it had been mine, I would've wound it in!

We got ours from Brisbane Camperland, I rang around and got prices from everywhere, Melbourne included. Brisbane did their best to give us the best deal and the after sales service we have received from them has been amazing.

I have read many times that Halls are the boys to speak to as they seem to do good pricing straight off the mark. I do like the idea of emailing a heap at agents in one hit so they know they need to put their best foot forward in one email.

It was Jayco Bundaberg for us :cup:(Warburton Caravans)
We just sold the Dove and are going to a Expanda. We got a very good price in Brisbane but gave Bundy a call and got a even better deal. Very easy to deal with and good old fashioned service.I did every thing over the phone and email.
Cheers

If u do ur research, know what they are asking for and then apply the screws you will have no problems. I ended up getting my bargain at a show, but only after knowing what I wanted to pay.

Good luck I hope you get a good deal.

Our Expanda is just on 2 yrs old now, gee how time flies.

I'm within 1hr to 2 hrs drive of 3 Jayco dealers

I had  dealt with with two of them in the past so natural I rang them both had had staff changes since I'd dealt with them previously, basically ther over phone manner was enough to turn off dealing with them again despite being a previous customer, however I got quotes from both and rough trade in price,  basically they weren't interesting in trading my 2 yr old camper.

Enter 3rd Dealer, in this case  Jayco Canberra.  8)  Awesome service from the 1st phone call.
Walked all over the other dealers price on the new van and offered great trading in price.
1st rate  :cup: Customer service before during and after delivery, even now 2 yrs on, the only thing thats change is thier location.

I just picked up a new swan outback from page brothers and can highly recommend them. I got about $4000+ worth of options thrown in with the camper and only paid extra for alpine annexe walls over the Jayco rrp. I had quotes from Bayswater, Bairnsdale and Prestige Geelong also. Prestige were a small amount cheaper, maybe due to making their own annexe/awnings/bedflys, not enough to travel there though. The other two were 2k+ dearer.
The salesman I used was Trevor Swift.

When we brought our outback hawk in 2010, best price hands down was Prestige in Geelong, we were looking for a second hand one but decided to go a spanker! Even prestige in Bendigo couldnt get near the price we paid, told me that geelong had made a mistake. Ended up getting the bag awning thrown in as well (better then nothing !!!!) For around what the second hand ones of this model go for now.
