Mongrel job
« on: July 28, 2012, 07:13:05 PM »
Changed the oil pump seal today on the 80
What a mongrel job it turned out to be
had to easy out 5 of the 7 philips head screws out
and the harmonic balancer bolt would not undo with a power bar and freeze and release spray Even bumping with starter did not make it loose
so I had to make a tool to hold the balancer still and then hang of a 10 foot bar to crack it
310 foot pounds my arse >:D

Hi Brett
I guess you know now that the harmonic balancer bolt was not going to come loose itself.  I know what you mean about mongrel jobs, I am still battling all the planets trying to get the bearings out of my left rear assembly.
