Electric Pump
« on: July 07, 2012, 11:39:07 PM »
Hi Swaggers
A general inquiry.  I have seen small electric pumps, which can be attached to a standard garden hose at one end, then put into a 44 or similar, and can pump fuel (or any kind of fluid for that matter).  Two wires are attached to the pump which are connected to the vehicle battery, and it actually can pump quite rapidly.
Does anyone know what these are called and where one can get them from.  I intend to get one, as I have had three hand pumps stolen already from the 44's I sometimes carry in my trailer.  One of these I could remove and secure.
Thankyou
Regards

Have a look at the Tanamai range of pumps.

Google "diesel transfer pump" and you will find a few sources for what you want. Most people down in the big smoke seem to use plastic tanks with pump built in instead of 44s. I've seen them at TJM etc but Silvan makes them, check their web site. You'd probably get them at a pastoral house out your way.

Thanks Guys
I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and freight something up from Perth, then fly it in from Halls Creek.  I have thought about those plastic drums before, but cannot get any information on the temperature and environmental conditions they can handle.
When until I get my new laptop, then google will be my mate again.

I had a spare fuel pump from a boat that I hadn't used that would work for that. Its all brass manufacture so no problems for diesel or petrol. My CT pump shat itself a while ago and its currently being used for pumping water to the sink......but at 11 litres a minute its a bit fast.....I think I paid about $90 for it delivered. I will see if I can find a link for it.

Cheers Nomad.

Thankyou Nomad, that would be much appreciated.  I need it only for diesel, as I already have an Onga for water.

Hi Nomad
I just tried that link you gave me, and it said "The listing is not available".  I do not have an ebay account either way, and after a family member of mine was hacked, and had his account emptied, I would rather stay away from ebay.  Thankyou for your time and effort, I will have to keep searching.  The one I was talking about would readily fit into my hand, and they must be still around.
