Well thanks to my uni student daughter downloading a whole $h!tload of stuff my connection has been shaped for the next few days but thanks to the big T I can only get ADSL1 and lucky to get that being firmly planted on a RIM. I have neighbours that cannot get anything other than dial up as there is a shortage of dslam ports and wireless is a big blackspot. Right in the middle of an affluent suburb (we are the poor neighbours so to speak).

My mum lives in an area where there's barely dialup.  I managed to get her a duplex satellite broadband connection for nothing.  Then she just went on a $20 per month casual connection.  Government pays up to $2500 to get it all installed.  Anyway... worth checking out if you're in a broadband blackspot.

What service type are you using? ADSl just can't go that fast, especially up.

It's BigPond Cable Ultimate.  After the upgrade, my old router maxed out at 25mbs.  An upgrade to the latest and greatest router now gets me 116mbs wired and 115mbs wireless.

I never thought anyone would be happy with telstra, especially as there's no real competition.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Try living in WA.
No wonder I spend 'hours' on myswag.

Did the speed test tonight.

Went and made coffee while waiting for it......    (slower than 87% of Australia)

Considering you can't get anyone else but Telstra in the majority of places I go I have no choice but to be happy with them.

Boy am I happy, just got a letter stating that our street has been upgraded to ADSL2. Afterr moving into a new estate with 50 house, underground power and telephone cables, you would think they would put cable in. Nope don't wanna. So after 8 years we finally have ADSL2 and we signed up again with iprimus as we save 25 a month against Telstra. Yippeeeeeeeeee!!?

Hi Silvo, It's BigPond Cable Ultimate.  After the upgrade, my old router maxed out at 25mbs.  An upgrade to the latest and greatest router now gets me 116mbs wired and 115mbs wireless.

I didn't want this thread to become a p**sing match, but it is interesting what kind of connections fellow swaggers connect to this forum with.  Decent internet all helps us experience myswag in all its glory.

I have 100mbps download from Telstra, but it took me 10 years of complaining. I couldn't have internet and Foxtel at the same time because the signal was so poor (signal strength was -17, for the technical minded). Telstra is the only provider in my street. I have upgraded to every deal they claimed would fix my problem and nothing ever changed except I paid Telstra more money.

This time they replaced the cable into the house (not an easy task I admit), but in doing so they put in a new pit on the footpath (which isn't really a pit, it's a lid over a hole in the ground - no joke. Yes I reported it) They cut through two irrigation pipes, pulled out 15 mtrs of irrigation pipes that wasn't near where they entered the property, broke a block in a retainer wall, disconnected the pool pump and left a pile of unused cement on the footpath.  While the kids were at school they would go to friends to use the internet when it wasn't working.

A big thanks to Telstra for finally giving me the service I have been paying for for 10 years.
I have quality internet, the complaining is all in the past and my therapist assures me my anxiety will lessen with time.

Roll on the NBN?

down 0.17, up 0.34,  speedtest.net (mbps)

Thinking of changing the settings to read kbps, at least then it might look like it's doing something.

And my wife wonders why I spend hours on myswag.org

Just gets worse
speedtest.net
down, 0.14
Up, 0.04

Not being on mswag.org. all day had been frustrating and painstakingly annoying.
