I am with Teabag, we should be able to talk about just about anything, but where it gets personal or spiteful towards others that is when the line is crossed, not the topic itself.

If only it was that easy.

The mods have already been accused of caving into minority groups, censorship, and bias.  Can you imagine what it would be like if we totally opened the doors?

I think some (not you by the way) people need to remember that the admins and moderators donate their time to the running of the site.  Nobody gets paid, there are no rewards, and the owner of this site actually pays for the hosting and software fees out of his own pocket.  That amount of money is not trivial either.  There is no advertising, kickbacks, bottles of scotch under the table, etc for the site owner or the moderation team.

Any policy that reduces the amount of work for the moderators personally sounds good to me.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

I think the Origin posts are becoming more of a problem than the politics tbh.

My 2 cents worth, I thought the heading was General Discussion. It seems like it is now General Discussion sans Religion and Politics. If you look through the posts there are all sorts of topics in there and they are great to read.

I agree...

O.k Symon, I'm a mod and have been from inception. Now, where do I draw the line at politics? Should I shut down the jokes, general trivial threads nothing to do with Camper trailers? You guys want this to stop (political post) righto, give the rest of us guide lines that you wish us to play by...........

I cannot believe this is such a big issue. If this is all people have to worry about in life, then their life is pretty darn good. It is as simple as, if you don't like the thread, don't read it.......Banging my head against the wall in wonderment.......

Symon - I think you guys do an awesome job, I am sure no one on here is directing anything at you guys. This is such a fantastic forum with good people on here who are enjoyable and fun to interact with. You guys do what you have to do to make this as easy for you as possible, cause it would be a big loss to see this forum close or something similar.

Hi Swaggers
I am one who is guilty of non camper threads, ie, when I did the weight loss thread.  I find this the best forum I have ever been involved with, and because ofd my location I feel privileged that I can give people the latest information regards the CSR and the Tanami.  My grandkids love the funny photo's and other funny threads on here, and I have met some fantastic people through this site.
In my thoughts, the moderators here do a fantastic job.  No two people are ever going to fully agree on many things, that is just who we are as people, and for people to donate their time and effort, that is amazing.
No matter what comes from a discussion like this one, I am just glad that a site like MySwag exists.
Regards

Just like when around a camp fire, if you don't like what some are yakking about you don't have to engage in that topic.
I read through the politic threads, but I don't comment, I keep my views to myself, it gives me an insight into how others think.

We're all still minnows compared to the 'master'.

I assume the decision is final BigJules?

If so "the OP's question has been answered, as usual the thread has disintegrated into name calling, time to lock it".

I didn't want to keep this going. I removed those threads because it appeared there was too much discussion of politics and the tone of those threads was going downhill. I didn't suggest there could never be political threads.

I will say that Myswag has never been a free-for-all and all even between consenting adults some topics are simply not right for discussion.

I will be seeking some consensus from the rest of the mods as to what we believe is and isn't acceptable and will provide some feedback to you all once we've agreed.
