Buying online - be careful where you buy from

Whoa up here a bit guys. While hiccups can occur in any online/warehousing/picking/packing/communicating/tracking/emailing system I have to say my overall experience is a good one but I KEEP all copies of electronic correspondence until such time as the transaction is completely finalised. On that note I have had excellent service with a number of transactions with 'Shopping Square' but I accept they're not perfect by one account here.

In my experience, most of the problems occur because Gen XYZ think it's OK when there's a hiccup to phone someone and complain and that's the end of it from their point of view. Sounds like someone's missus got stroppy fairly quickly when she was directed to the appropriate channel to deal with the ONLINE system only and when it escalated got the big stick in return. Not saying that's best business practice but we've only heard one side of the story here. The instant generation needs to be aware that the appropriate response is through the appropriate system and that means in writing and be patient with email correspondence. Sweet Jesus we used to have to write letters, pay for a stamp and wait for the postie so get over the horrendous imposition of having to type out the odd email with appropriate attachments, order/invoice nos and the like. If that fails then it's time to get upset but a little patience and understanding of big systems goes a long way and stop taking it so personally. Are you always perfect in your job 24/7?

Thats the problem... the Gov says "ITS ALL WARM AND FUZZY - YOUR PROTECTED".... but speaking with people who have been through the hell of dealing with these "Protection Systems", they all say 99% of the time its not anywhere near worth the effort or time - and companies know this and rely on it...
Companies can stall, and root you around as much as their $20billion wallets will let them.

There is very little trust left and zero concern for customers just about anywhere anymore.

The vast majority of retailers in this country are fair to deal with. Considering that at times some consumers have an unreasonable expectation in respect to their perceived rights. Retailers are bound by a stringent code of ethics, but they too have rights.
When an issue arises, one will always catch more flies with the honey method than the jumping up and down swinging wildly approach.
Shopping online has a few more pitfalls and side-roads to contend with, as opposed to personal shopping. It may be cheap and convenient, but cheap and convenient can sometimes turn out to be more expensive and rather inconvenient.
A while ago I was chasing a Canon 100-400 lens, the prices on the web were considerably cheaper than anything I could source over the counter, but in the end I forked out about $300 more with a local company. The risk factor sometimes outweighs the savings.
At the end of the day the Latini would say CAVEAT EMPOR.

I think if I was in D4D's position I wouldn't name them until ordered goods received or refund. If the company are named and see it, it will just get a whole lot harder, justified or not.

will fully agree with you, I think this thread may have been put up for the wrong reasons, the OP has been given the information required to get the 'wrong' item exchanged for the correct item, at no added cost to himself OR his wife, so that should be the end of the situation.

The original point of the thread was to make sure people knew who they were buying from online hence the title.

As for the exchange of the item. Only when asked multiple times did the seller provide a return process, you would have known that if you had read my responses.

Bull ants ?, bull ants have little to do with honey, bee's, birds and pollen is what honeys all about, and a few other bugs thrown in here and there. But if you want to threaten someone with an ant or two, go for it. The jar would be more effective, although rather useless in any conflict other than hand to hand combat.
The problem with bull ants is that although they are extremely aggressive and have a nasty bite, they usually end up arse up, flat and dead after the initial onslaught, they get poked with sticks by young children, tormented then unceremoniously dispatched, burnt, squashed and beheaded by tiny giants, or stuck in honey.
Hope that helps to clear things up, I for one am more confused than ever.

No matter how you want to spread your honey, what brand, style, age, thickness of your honey some companies are just Shit to deal with.

No matter how friendly you are with some companies, how nice you are complimenting their products and would like minor or large things resolved, and even when you send the communication to other people to see if maybe you got it wrong, and they agree with you, some companies are just Shit. Its always been the way and its getting worse....

Sadly with many companies once they have your money, your not worth spitting on - they have your coin, what do they need you for?

My practice has always been to do a search on any company I deal with online to get reviews from others who have dealt with them.  If I can't find  genuine positive reviews of the business I don't deal with them, simple.

The problem with that is the vast majority don't go into raptures online when the transaction is an agreeable one and the field is left to the disgruntled consumer. That's where ebay and Paypal have the problem licked, as well as the trusted bricks and mortars with an online presence. They do employ ordinary folks like us however and some days we all get out the wrong side of the bed.
