Caravan parks in and around Childers
« on: June 24, 2012, 10:46:00 PM »
Hi, heading north in the next week and looking at an overnight stop at Childers Qld.  Anyone got any recommendations for caravan parks.  Any help would be great.  Kirky

I was in the same position as you last year when driving from Brisbane to Airlie Beach. We spent our first night at Lake Monduran and would highly recommend this park due to no road noise and very clean amenities plus camp kitchen.

I'd drive another 30mins & stay at Woodgate. Shame you can't stay longer as it is a great spot.
Monduran dam is alright as well. Woodgate would be my pick.

Apple Tree Creek if you want a free overnight camp only 5 min north of Childers most of the van parks in Childers are full of backpackers and pickers not saying thats a bad thing but some people think so As said Monduran and Woodgate are realy nice spots abit out of the way though there is a van park 10 min out of town turn right down Goodwood Rd then left into Stockyard rd. Pm me if your stuck you can stay at my place if you like 15 min out of Childers

There's only one van park now and that's Sugar Bowl Tourist Park.  Ph. 07 4126 1521 It's usually full of backapckers but they are fairly tame and easy on the eye ...  ;D  It's on hte Bruce Hwy so easy to stop and park.

There's another one about ten mins out called Childers Tourist park  Ph 07 4126 1371.  It's set amongst a bush setting if you prefer that but you will need to drive into Childers whenever you want stocking up etc.  It's not on the Bruce Hwy so maybe not what you are looking for.

As Gibbo has said, there's apple Tree Creek which is a free camp just north of Childers.  I think there is a 20hr limit on your stay there.

HTH..

Thanks everyone, only one sleep to go, looks like we might give Lake Monduran a go.  Thanks again.
