I have an Aldi 29er and have been very happy with it. Hve done just over 600klms on it and can't fault it for the price.  8)

I wish I could of grabbed a 2019 one last month. They went to hydraulic discs and 1x10 Deore drivetrain. I rode my mate Trek Marlin 7 last week and couldn't give it back to him quick enough.

I had a spin along the road today on the mountain bike (it was the first non-powered 2 wheeler of mine in the shed) and was surprised at what I was ticking along at... would be interesting to look at a comparison with the road bike on the same run.

Did a 60 km ride up the blackbutt range and back yesterday (moore - blackbutt - moore) on the Brisbane valley rail trail. I’ll be back, very cool track. The polygon entiat 27.5 plus bike is made for that sort of thing. Very happy with my choice.

Which Entait did you get? TR6 or TR8? I really like the look and spec of the 6 for the money.

The frame and gruppo are great. Their finishing kit is not bad but I had a few issues with the saddles not being made properly - I eventually gave up and put one of my old ones on. I also had a warranty issue with a rim. They replaced it no question. I cannot fault their after sales. Now I have the bike where I want it I am really warming to it. The 3” tyres inspire confidence and carry weight really well. I am 117 kg and can run them easily at 25 psi with tubes so grip is awesome and the ride is armchair good. For the coin I’d buy another one again.

Awesome.  The tr6 is on my list. So is the tr8 and the marin San Quentin 3. Shame that the tr8 isn't as eye catching as the tr6.

I thought about the TR8, but not required for my riding. One thing, I used to ride cleats on my last 29er, but haven't bothered on this bike. Plus bikes have a wider chainstay to fit the tyre in. When I first rode it my heels knocked the frame a bit and it felt weird - probably due to the fact i ride a roady as well. Somewhere along the line my heels no longer hit and I didn't notice the change. I think cleats would require a bit of a think, but it's not that sort of bike and I find my upstroke is strong enough without them. I don't see myself ever riding less than 3" tyres offroad again.

Last weekend I did the MACACANCER200 Ride.
That was 142 km on Saturday (including the challenge detour) and 106 km yesterday in 36 degrees with headwind.
All for raising funding for the Perkins Institute for cancer research.

Did ypu notice any disadvantages of going from a 29er down to a 27.5 bike? Really like the way my 29er rides but have never ridden a 27.5. I've put my bmx race bike up for sale to partially fund the new mtb. Really leaning towards the Matin San Quentin  3. Great specs and good reviews.

Not at all. Bear in mind though that my particular 29er was heavier and lower spec than the 27.5 plus I replaced it with so that is the glaring difference between the two. The front end is lighter and with the slacker head angle it is less twitchy and instills a whole lot more confidence downhill than the old upright 29er. I have also got big hydro discs on this one where the old one was vee brakes - never going back. Interestingly though I still prefer rim brakes on the roady.
I think the 29er would have a higher ultimate roll speed onroad with the slightly lower rotating speed and mass and the 3x gearing, but that is not a consideration for me as I hardly ride the MTB on tarmac anyway. Not much of a help, and I am hardly a MTB guru. I know plus bikes are passe around the racing guys but everything they don't like about them is exactly what I was looking for.

My bike shop understands as well... My valve stems are perfection...

Got 1/2 way through a ride the other day, and split a casing!!  Was only 5 minutes from the LBS who sorted me with me boots

Shuttles at Bright today. Fast and with great flow, lots of dust. Declan hit the deck hard but all good.
