Took the gravel bike for a spin today on the O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail. Ripper ride but my legs are now feeling the 1000m of climbing.

Sad news. The Cippo went down in the Brisbane - GC ride a couple of weeks ago and someone landed on him. He still finished and rode back to brissy but there was a bit of damage done. He was on a set of lightweight wheels which were also damaged. Insurance claim $19.5k. New frame hopefully by Easter as it has to be made for him - again.

Quick update, turns out the projected timing was spot on and the new frame turned up this week. No time for bike shops so he built it in the garage and raced it yesterday in the Brisbane grand fondo which is part of the road race series. Grabbed a third and qualified for the world’s which I believe are in some Nordic country this year. We will see if he goes. I’m enjoying following him socially because I surely can’t ride with him - for very long haha. I have had a few niggles with that polygon 27.5 plus bike I bought so to be fair to the seller who is working hard, on I’ll wait on the review until we are all good.

Damn you've got some nice frames on your website...any sneak previews of the Gravel frame?

Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

just got some new drawings back last night from my framebuilder.

the plan is keep thing fairly simple and use things we like, trust and use on other models. Like 44mm headtubes, 31.6mm seatposts, full run cable outers and threaded bottom brackets.

Our regular adjustable Rocker dropouts will be an option with vertical dropouts as standard. Rockers alloy it to be set up as 135/QR, 135/12, 142/12, 135/QR Rohloff, 142/12 Rohloff and singlespeed. As a Rohloff evangelist myself, I wanted the capability to set the frame up with one if you want.

Even a dropper post port will be standard. (yes... I'm serious)

Rack and cage mounts for days.

and plenty of tyre clearance.

I like the sound of that spec, try and keep the geometry bag friendly too.

Good idea re the threaded BB, I've got no idea why Norco used a pressfit BB on the Search, squeaky squeak :(

I keep getting pressured by some people to go with PF30. And it's just not gunna' happen.

threaded just plain works.

I looked into this a while ago. Lot's of stories that are good and bad, longevity/frame cracking is the key issue. In the end I bought a name brand bike as I didn't want to take the risk.

After pricing it up, I'm leaning heavily towards a shop bike too... Want a bsa bottom bracket if I can find one...

I've been putting a lot of klms on the gravel bike and thought it was about time I got a bike fit. All I can say is wow, a few tweaks to the seat height/position, bars/levers, pedals/cleats and now it fits like a glove. I had the bike setup about 80% there, the bike fit got the last 20%. If you're in MEL go see Stewart @ http://www.riderfit.cc/

Did you have to swap any components, or just adjust them?

I went in thinking I'd have to swap to a shorter stem, however Stewart was able to setup my bike within tolerance without swapping any parts. I went with the 'new bike' setup package, which is a basic setup. There are more options to get way detailed in the setup. What I have noticed is that previously when I jumped on the bike and my body found it's natural position, it wasn't the optimum for power/comfort. After the setup I can jump on and the that default position is perfect. Hard to explain until you go through it.
