time to upgrade the tyres on my giant roam 2...

currently have the original 700x40c giant tyres on (which have been very good), and was looking to change them up with something like this:

the price is right and i only really do road and path riding...

anyone have any thoughts on different brands, sizing, etc?

i haven't bought tyres for my bike before... just want something that will be smooth on the road...

Maxxis have a good name for this type of riding but I can't give you an honest opinion as I only buy 23mm tyres for my road bike and fixie.

Are your current tyres wire bead? I'd probably go something with a flexible bead as they will be way lighter. Being lighter means easier to pedal.

Those Tyres look pretty good -- maybe if you're resetting up your wheels, maybe think of converting them to tubeless -- as like Ghetto Tubeless using a split tube technique and tyre sealant.

You might have to use a wider 20" or 24" tube, and it's surprising simple to do.

Just today before I set off for a ride, I checked my tyres --


That's tyre sealant on the outside of the tyre, in 2 places, The tyre must of picked up a thorn, and/or piece of glass, no probs added 2 more PSI --  and went on a 9km ride.

My commute is 50% gravel/bitumen. I have used for the last 2000km Panaracer Gravel King SK. I run tubeless as well. I run 32mm on a CX and it keeps up great with my roady mates on social rides.

not sure i am up for the tubeless just yet... :)

looks a bit complicated for me...

i'm pretty happy with tubes... i'm not a pro, by any stretch, just a casual rider...

the rims are giant gx-02 rims, which are a 622x19 rim...

maybe something like this:

So it looks like Troy will roll home in third place after 21 odd days on the Iditarod, and carrying an injury by the sounds of it. If anyone knows more about how the 2nd pair caught up so quickly I’d like to know. Just tactics or more sinister?

I've got a few bikes in the shed ATM. The old grey touring bike made of Reynolds 531DB frame, forks and stays, Mavic rims and Campagnolo running gear. For the gearing freaks it's a "Half step plus Granny" setup consisting of 13,16,19,23,18 &34 sprockets and 44,40&24 chainrings. Still ride it around and it's the most comfortable bike I own.Can't find any pcs of it though.
There's a Giant ATX mountain/touring bike which has been across the Gunbarrel Highway (unsupported in a group of four), up and down the Birdsville and Strzelecki tracks as well a few other outback "roads".
Then there's this - a Moulton APB S7 seven speed Sturmey Archer hub geared fully suspended detachable. I still use it quite a bit for towing a trailer down to the shops and back.
All of my bikes have Brooks seats... :D
