Thought for the day...............When old fat slow and unfit, don't race Track with up to 50yrs difference when you're required to put in 100% efforts in five races, over a 2hr period.  :'( Nah that ain't gunna happen but I'm sure as hell, in a world of pain at the moment.  :o

Second that for Paul - he serviced a 25 year old fork for me recently, new seals, wipers and all - everyone else wanted to sell me a new one

A quick Sunday arvo ride with @GU Rich on the recently refurbished and redesigned Hey Hey My My trail at Wesburn.

The climb is 150m elevation over 1.8km to get to the top the then the fun part....the down.
It's a great loop.

Nice, another trail I must ride. I've been too busy racing the road bike.

Dangerous things those slow bikes ...
https://www.mcnews.com.au/troy-bayliss-seriously-injured-in-bicycle-crash/

DesmoSport Shitheap Team co-owner Troy Bayliss has confirmed that a bicycle crash last Friday has left the three-time World Superbike champion with a fractured C4 vertebra and corresponding spinal damage that will see the active 52-year-old on the sidelines for several months.

With Troy having no exact recollection of the incident, it appears that another bicycle was exiting between two parked cars and he has collided head first into it. Most of the impact was transferred through his head to his neck, and he lost consciousness. He was immediately treated and taken to hospital.

Chit, that's a bloody bad outcome but lucky he isn't paralysed.

interesting read on tourists and new track

“I think the concern is that the mountain bike trail is going to bring in a vast amount of tourists in addition to what we already have here, and I think that is the public concern.”

Mr Neilson says there are safety concerns associated with the mountain bike plan.

“What we are opposing is the huge influx of mountain bikers into high fire risk areas, and I think that is exactly what we’re going to be seeing with the new mountain bike proposal that has been put forward by council,” he said.

interesting read on tourists and new track

The minority NIMBY crowd will always be vocal and irrational, they throw emotional comments out there with no data to back them up. The current town is falling apart, underserved and people are leaving to find work elsewhere as there is none in the local area. The fire risk is a red herring and one that is managed by every other MTB park with an emergency management plan. There is also a proposed traffic and parking management plan that has been developed. This is a typical play that is delaying significant investment in their community they are so passionate about.

Edit - interesting 'The flyer divided opinion in one of the town’s Facebook groups, and the creator eventually removed the post.' NCA NewsWire contacted the flyer’s creator for comment, but she has since clarified the stance of the action group online, saying the flyer was “poorly worded”.

Well it had to happen and now i am hooked
Borrowed a mates full suspension epic evo on the weekend and was taken to the local MTB park. it was bloody awesome. Even hit a few of the decent drops and jumps and came home with all limbs intact

However the one thing I could not get over was how shattered I was at the end of the day. I have done road, commuter ,rail trail cycling etc. for years so a 150km week or a single 80km hitout is nothing new to me. But my god after 3.5 hrs of xc trails, flow track and some down hill my entire body ached, and half of that was going downhill. Had to go home and have a 3 hr arvo nap to get over it

I now have that familiar tickle in my hand when i touch my wallet that usually ends up in N+1

I send an email to Merida Australia asking if there was any stock of the Scultura 5000.
His answer was negative, completely sold out for the year. :-(

we've been told to expect new saddle orders to arrive in 2023...

betting money is that bikes will start arriving in boxes to dealers around March next year without saddles.

thats crazy when you think about it..
the largest and most market dominant maker of saddles (and grips/bar tape) in Taiwan is Velo. The owner of the company Stella is known to be pretty aggressive in business.

Velo (the company) also owns multiple other saddle "brands". (SDG and WTB for example) Velo also manufactures all saddles for Giant, Trek (Bontrager), Specialized and PRO (Shimano). Plus countless others...

But those six brands (+ the Velo house brand) account for well over 60% of the mid to mid/high market.

Ritchey is telling us that saddles we ordered in June last year will be Dec 2022 delivery. And new orders will be mid/late 2023.

Shimano is currently quoting 400+ days for XT, XTR and Dura Ace parts.
