Kids night light in the camper
« on: June 13, 2012, 10:11:41 PM »
Hey, just thought I would share an idea I came up with on the recent long weekend.  We found the camper in winter mode (ie. zipped up tight) resulted in pitch black, this freaked the kids out a bit and made it hard for mum and dad to navigate the bed ladder in the middle of the night.

My quick and easy solution to this was a 6" glow stick tied to the tent frame, the glow stick gave a soft glow rather than a stark light and wasn't annoying.  I bought 50 of them on eBay for about $40.

Hope someone finds this handy.

Good idea!

We use their night light from home which we charge during the day on the move.  It is a bit bright if out on its own but we put it in the clothes storage tray which dims it quite alot.

Hi Jasman,

When we travelled around Oz for 6 months we took some solar garden lights from home to use as night lights for us and the kids. We kept one in the camper and one in the toilet/ensuite tent. We unscrewed the top off that contained the solar panel and AAA battery and placed these on the car dash while driving so they were charged when we made camp. Obviously when camped for some days we sat them somewhere in the sun.

They worked an absolute treat, not too bright and cheap enough that we weren't concerned losing/breaking them etc.

Cheers,

Mark.

There great those Glow sticks. We use the glow sticks in the zip so it can easily be found at night from inside the dark camper.

I bought 100 for $12.80 delivered. They are the size that will go around a wrist. Taking 2 packs to the cape for kids (big ) to play with.

I brought a string 50 solar garden lights from Kmart for $10.00. Set this up  and it has a nice low light.
