We've had an EcoPot for about 18 months and we use it at home, picnics, camping. They're great for cooking stews and casseroles, curries, corned meat, just about anything with plenty of moisture in it to retain the heat . Just follow the instructions in the booklet and you can't go wrong. Just don't be tempted to open it too often during the cooking time - it extends the cooking time about 30 minutes each time you open it. The heater is not intended for cooking or heating - it's to keep the food at a high enough temperature to stop the food from being spoiled by bacteria. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought one.
They're intended for use with a gas or electric heat source, including induction hotplates, to start the cooking process. The pots are fairly robust but I don't think they would fare too well on an open fire or with heat beads (I haven't been game enough to try it).
Hope this helps a little
Eric.
