Glass House Mountains 4wding
« on: June 11, 2012, 01:35:26 PM »
I am heading up to the Glass House on Friday with a mate and neither of us really know where are going. We have both been on separate occasions but usually just go in and stumble across tracks.

I am wondering if anyone knows there way around and would be willing to share some spots to check out. I am in a Challenger with some lift and A/T's and he is in a Patrol with lift, 33's and sliders.
Nothing to extreme just some good, dirty fun :)

Oh and if anyone wants to come they are more than welcome!!!!

I'm taking my kids to the Sunshine Coast Show at Nambour on the day but not too early, so would be ok to be out and about at 8am or so and done by 11am. I could show you some good stuff in that time and then leave you to it?

My sliders are off at the moment so nothing too silly for me.

That sounds like a plan.
Hahahaha was thinking of taking my kids to the show afterwards also, great minds hey.

We are both very new to the scene so nothing too silly for us either.
I am coming from Maroochydore and my mate is coming from Caloundra so we will prob meet at the start of Steve Irwin Way.
Where are you located?

I'm hoping the rain will stay away for the show! It always rains... I'll probably bring my 5yo son down to GH tomorrow, daughters can sleep in with mum :)

I'm in Palmwoods. The best place to meet up is the Matilda/SPAR on Steve Irwin Way at Glasshouse Mtns, just a bit south of the turn-off into the GHM township itself. You can get any supplies you might have forgotten there, and the coffee is reasonably good :) It's then an easy drive into the forest where the fun is.

I take a packed lunch along with fruit, snacks and plenty of water. Do you guys have UHF? I will have a spare hand-held if required.

OK I'll be at the Matilda/SPAR at 7:45am, look for a white GU IV Patrol ST with 'Patrol4x4.com' sticker on the back window. I'll pm my mobile number to you.

I'd love to tag along too but I'm Kayaking to Staddie. Been meaning to checkout the tracks up there for ages...

Have fun :)

Hey Lux that sounds like a top day out, hope the weather is kind to you.

I am a fairly regular GH punter, so there will be another day sometime soon - I'll post up a topic in another week or two to set a date.

Sound slike a plan, meet you at the Matilda at 7:45am tomorrow morning!!

I'll be in a Champagne (fancy brown) Challenger and mate is in a Black GQ Patrol.
I hope the weather stays like this, it will be great!

I will bring my 12 year old boy with me. He's a good navigator :)
Will also bring some lunch etc and water.
I don't have a UHF no so if you could bring that it would be very helpful.

looking forward to it!

It's the cold night I'm not looking forward to!!! I reckon it's going to be freezing :)

Great idea to post up a tag along day - I've got a few mates that would come too. I'll keep an eye out!

Hi Humbolt, I know you are looking for someone with local knowledge, but this site has some details on tracks
 http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.html?site=91_Glasshouse-Mountains
You can use Google Earth get a look at where to go. My brother takes his Challenger up there a lot and the track varies according to weather as the comments read. Some say a nice scenic drive, but I have seen pics of vehicles covered in mud and having a hard time getting through.
