Did you pay with a credit card
If so collate ALL documentation that you have
Now approach your c/c provider and lodge a disputed transaction  claim with them
Advise the company concerned IN WRITING as to what  you are doing also lodge a claim with  your consumer affairs

Under Australia wide standard consumer affairs  laws for  goods that are "not fit for purpose" , not as described or order not complete the supplier has the choice of  the 3 r's

Refund
Replace
Refill order

This is the course of action I take after having legal  advice and l'ts  worked everytime
Good luck

We did a similar thing. My wife bought box set dvd's from what she thought was an Aussie shop. As it turned out they were copies and we sent them back, for replacement. This never happened after several emails. We took emails to bank after enquiring and the bank reversed the credit card charge.

Thanks for all the responses, I tried to tell my father-in-law not to buy from these guys but he didn't listen. I think we'll need to get fair trading involved, it was purchased by credit card so we'll investigate that side of things aswell.

I have purchased my panels from Mandrake and can't fault anything about what I purchased, I just couldn't convince the father-in-law to do the same.

Will keep you posted!!

At a guess I'd say he will be easier to convince next time, It's a hard way to learn that lesson though. I'd talk to your bank first and try to get the credit card reversed, then you can all just move on. These people must have a pretty good file at fair trading by now!
