Anyone heading to brisbane caravan & camping show
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:11:41 PM »
Hi all
Is anyone heading to the brisbane cv and camping show , Iam spending the weekend in brisbane going to the show on sunday.

The only problem is i have to spend saturaday and monday shopping :'( Thats the problem when you live 4hrs away from the big smoke ,

I guess i will just have to suffer walking around aimlessly looking in the same shops as we have 5mins down the road just not as many anyway not to worry  ???

Are you there to carry or chaperone and make sure she doesn't stock up with too much stuff?

Isn't that supposed to be happening at the end of the year?  December 2012 and all that?  Not long for your day off then ...  ;D

Parking is virtually non-existant this year.  If we go in by train, don't think there will be any purchases to take home.

Hi Hoyks

I hope there isnt to many bags to carry at the shops , The only reason I want to go to the show is so i can try and convince the swimbo that the style of camper i want is better than the one we have .

So see what happens  ehsc

a bit of info for anyone thinking of going this year, those coming from out of town may be interested in the free shuttle bus option mentioned at the bottom. the shuttle buses do operate from a fair way away from the RNA IMHO, but atleast it saves the hassle of parking if you don't know the area.

Quote
PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A MUST!!

Travel by public transport to connect with the free trains which will leave from Roma Street, Central and Fortitude Valley Stations direct to the Showgrounds station every 20-30 minutes.  The first train will leave shortly after 9am and the last train will return from the showgrounds shortly after 6pm.

PLEASE NOTE – A valid Go Card or ticket is required when travelling on scheduled public services. Remember to swipe off your Go Card before travelling on the free service to the show.

BUSES
Regularly scheduled Brisbane City Council buses stop near the showgrounds at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH), outside the old Museum and other similar spots adjacent to the Showgrounds.  Route numbers include: 66, 321 330 P331, P332, 333, 334, 335, P339, 340, P341, 346, 353, 370, 375, 376, 379 & 393.  For further information and other Bus Services to this area please contact Translink on 13 12 30 or via their website – www.translink.com.au

LITTLE PARKING AVAILABLE
Because of construction work within the Showgrounds and nearby precincts there is very little parking available this year.  This is something over which the Caravan Show organisers have no control whatsoever.  A small number of car parking spaces only will be available in the Brisbane City Council’s Victoria Park off Gilchrist Avenue, off Herston Road near Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH).

Little or no parking will be available in the Showgrounds on weekdays. Some spaces will be available on the Long Weekend (9, 10 & 11 June) but off O’Connell Terrace only.  If you are travelling by car you should note that Gregory Terrace will be closed completely to through traffic.  There are privately operated parking stations in nearby Fortitude Valley and at the RBWH within easy walking distance to the Showgrounds.

BUT THE BEST OPTION IS TO Park & Ride on Public Transport then join our FREE TRAINS as per the first paragraph above.

OR
FREE SHOW PARKING

750 spaces available at

33 REMORA RD, HAMILTON (off Kingsford Smith Dve)

Opposite the Cruise Terminal

Opens 9AM Daily WED 6th to MON 11th ONLY

then

FREE BCC SHUTTLE BUSES

TO THE SHOW FROM 9.30AM

Last bus returns 6.05PM

Hey Greg hope all is good and all set for trip to cape !

Before we had the jayco we had a old hard floor cub ,I Would like to go back to that style of camper as you dont have to unhitch for over nighters not to mention the kwik set up ,you can use the kitchen ect when pulled up for lunch ect, Plus it is not wider than tow vehical i coul'd go on .

The only trouble is marion thinks we need a caravan but thats at least 10yrs away we are not that old yet. My other problem is what i would like i cant afford but anyway still fun to have a look anyway.

We look like going Sunday. Parking at Hamilton only has 750 spots so will want to be early. Still thinking about the train as we shouldn't have to much to carry home.

I have just been told about some QR line closures on the weekend. Looks like they will be running some buses but with up to 60min delays.

Well I went up yesterday, managed to get a park at grounds next to the construction site, payed $10 but only short walk. I had never been to one before and was blown away but with all the exhibits. We had only seen the Cubs, got lunch and ate then saw 3 hours had passed already!
Got some good deals, $299 Ozpig, $64 each for 2 ugly stix fishing rods, met the Gall Boys and they gave me a free copy of there latest dvd, 2 stubby holders and a shirt for my daughter (stoked). great guys and worth watching the dvd, classic van and car torture, not to mention on the old man Baz!
Got to finally see the Ultimate Campers in the flesh as I bought one 6 weeks ago without even seeing one! Very happy with my decision and pick it up Monady week!
Alot of schmick camper-caravans, the new KK and Cubs are good.
It was a busy day but glad we got it out of the way as it is only going to get worse.
Enjoy.
Mayney.
