Thinking of buying a Billman's Camp Oven
« on: June 01, 2012, 06:45:44 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a Billman's Camp Oven but they are very expensive. The personalised lid is a big attraction as it hopefully will become a family "heirloom". Does anyone know [a] if they give MySwaggers or anyone else a discount and if any other company does personalised lids?
Cheers

Gee you would want to hope that your next generation like camping other wise it could end up in the back corner of the garage.

I tried this a while back with Billmans, i gave them a call and asked if if could get an order placed for 10 or so, would they give me a discount, the answer was, no they wouldn't....... they make bugger all profit on each oven as it is....
I never got around to buying one, but still do want one....... as others will tell you on here and everywhere else, they are very good camp ovens.

Here's the link to the thread i started a while back

As for anyone else doing personalised lids, i haven't heard of any.

I own Billmans camp ovens 9", 12", 15" and 18",  bought over two years as could afford.
They are a nice deep camp oven.
The 9" fits in an Ozpig top which suits me as an Ozpig owner.
I recommend them from the sole remaining Foundry making camp ovens in Australia,  to be cheaper they would have to follow Furphy and sub out to China.

Save you breath Billman will not cut the price no matter how many you order . l have my name on the lid that really thrills me every time it comes out the coals. Normally they do the camp ovens after they have done the big work or castings for industroy , as a side line . As the last Aussie maker its all good . . Is it the CO you want to pay for or the CO with your name on the lid
You can go your own way . Treg Up & Make Dust

Honest answer..........CO with name on lid as it may, one day, be regarded as part of our family's history.
