Burrum Heads National Park Woodgate Campground
« on: May 21, 2012, 12:37:27 PM »
Hi all,

I am trying to find out whether the Woodgate Campground in the Burrum Heads National Park QLD is suitable for Camper trailers (Rear fold). I been on the DERM website at it seems to suggest only suitable for "camping in tent beside car".I think that the size of the camsite might be an issue? Local knowedge or some recent experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi riderx,

Mate we has been in there a few times for day trips etc, great spot, yes you can fit camper trailers in there I have seen rear folds there camp sites 9 to 11 are pretty good. We are planning for about 5 campers in there, the spot I think for us are sites 2 to 6 and in these spots we plan on getting a few jayco's and a travellander in there. Also the run into there is pretty good.
If your looking for a bit of a drive, go down to Walkers Point and turn right this track will take you out to the main road you came in on, it has got a bit of everything.

Cheers Ryan

+1

it joins up with heidkes road, i have camped at burrum and also along the track you're talking about, i'd sooner camp at the latter, right on the river and fires allowed  8)

Do you need a permit to camp along this track? Or is it just not used that much and you just look for a spot?
I could image the sand flies getting pretty bad there at times?
Have camped at the camp spot behind the dunes, but miss the fires

Vast,
As far as I know it's not NP, there are probably about 3 good spots that I've seen, take the chainsaw with you, I had to clear a couple of broken branches last trip, there's a spot down the track a bit where you can turn the CT around, some good little sandy spots for the kids to explore and drown some bait, don't forget the aeroguard  ;D

yeah i thought burrum was nice but like you say it's a pain without a fire.

Thanks Guys for all your input.

We are doing a bit of a tour around SEQ for a couple of weeks so I think I will book in for a couple of nights. Will just have to go without the fire I guess.

Cheers,

Hi riderx,

The best bet would be to ring the local Parks office....(07) 4126 8810.  They can answer any of your questions.
BTW it's an awesome spot.  If you like bush camping (and having a fire - bring your own wood) ask the Ranger about Kinkuna.
