Places to camp around Brooms Head
« on: May 17, 2012, 12:41:29 PM »
Just wondering about alternative places to camp around Brooms Head. We have stayed at the cp there before ( and loved it . )We are booked in again for a week in October school holidays on an unpowered site but are considering alternatives. Beach / River would be best. Self sufficient but showers would be nice. I live in Murwillumbah and would consider any options as far south as Grafton. This has probably been posted heaps before but would welcome any suggestions.
Cheers,
Jarrod :cup:

Hi Jarrod,
Sandon just near Brooms Head is superb, but it is a National Park so if you have kids can be a bit hexy, do you want to stay in a caravan park or free camp. You can free camp on the river bank at Copmanhurst. Nymbodia canoe centre just out of Grafton is good. There is also a camp ground at Ashby but am not sure of its name, it is right on the river, you can fish hire canoes etc.
Willing to give more info if you can tell me what sort of camping you are after.

Thanks Barb. Free camp or cp. Don't mind either way. U sure are right when u throw kids into the mix ( I've got four ). It certainly adds another dimension to the equation when you have to factor in the extra price for kids. Probably a red rag topic but it does seem excessive the prices that some places charge for kids as soon as they turn three. Would also be glad to hear opinions on that one !  8)

Hi Jarrod,

Lake Arragan and Redcliff camping areas are really nice and are 3 klms north of Brooms Head.
There is a jetty at the lake and it`s not far to walk to the beach. National Park fees of course but less than the caravan park.
