Dishwashing detergent that doesn't foam too much...
« on: May 14, 2012, 12:18:42 PM »
Yep..., who can recommend a general dishwashing detergent that won't fill the sink with bubbles? This is for both home and camping use - I am sick of foam clinging to my elbows and not being able to see the stuff I am washing!

Just use our local water, hard as!

Softer water will foam more, as will desalination water or 'soft' water.

Usually though, any cheap brand dish washer water will not produce much foam, causing you to use more of it. (Maybe a smaller amount squirted of your normml stuff wiill also help)
We use a good quality detergent and previously when using an inbuilt water softener,we have had to premix the detergent into another bottle mixed with water to tone it down a bit. (In case your still heavy handed)

Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

I use Morning Fresh and can't ever remember having a sink full of bubbles.  Only need a little squirt.

Same for us, little squirt and not a lot of suds, and that is with "soft" water.

Fill the sink with desired amount of water, add detergent & gently mix through...no suds

Definitely.
Don't put your squirt of dishwasher liquid in and then fill the sink, this causes extra bubbles..
fill the bucket /sink, with your water then add the detergent and a swish of hands or a top up with fast running water.

I use Morning Fresh

Who wouldn't?  Takes litterally ages to go through a large jar.

Fill the sink with desired amount of water, add detergent & gently mix through...no suds

Very smart.

I actually like the suds.  Helps me to identify sharp knives with the gloves causing first aid requirements and so ending dishwashing duties for the entire trip!    ;D

yeah thanks all, I might give the Morning Fresh a go. I've got some kind of natural plant extract stuff from Coles but you end up with foam almost up around your ears!!

Just use a dishwasher . I have an auto one for home & a 16yo for the bush. That way I don't have to worry about suds.
Sounds like Speewa has the right idea as well.

Useless Infomation # 5322155:  Saponin is the natural plant agent used for all stuff that sudds.  It grows in the wild as well.  Commonly known here in Australia as Soap Bush.  Wet your hands and rub them together with a leaf and ta da ... clean hands.

Mine broke for a while too but blocking facebook & youtube and threatening mobile cancellation somehow fixed it. For how long I don't know.
I also have to find a way for the PS3 not to work & I'll be just right.

Need to do it selectively so I can use it though when he's not around. Also it is his as he paid for it out of his mowing money.
Good thought though.
