Speeding fine Grrr
« on: May 02, 2012, 12:34:39 AM »
 >:(

Well I have just received a speeding fine on Vasse Highway, Nannup, near Monaghan Street  >:D >:D

Problem is the Navman tells me of radar and it tells me of speed limits too and the photo shows it is sitting on the dash, so it was working

I was 9 Klm over the limit, 69 in a 60 zone, so I believe there is something wrong and I am not sure what it is here and now.

Now I look at the overall photo and then check on Google earth for the general area (near Monaghan Street) and notice in the 60 area there are the usual lines in the centre of the road, so I wonder now why they are not shown in the 'infringement notice'  photo >:(

Now the question is: is there anyone on here living in Nannup WA  ?

Is it a new road surface there now with-out white centre lines ? ?

Thought I would ask on here first as it may save me a drive up there for an obvious new road surface and without centre lines on it as shown on the infringement notice

You should argue the fine on the grounds that the ugly duckling wouldn't reach that speed :)

Just pay it, and try not to be a geriatric hoon in future. Remember, speed kills.

So who are you trying to blame for you speeding? Your Navman for not yelling at you that there is a speed camera, or the local council for resurfacing the road?

If you don't want to get caught speeding....... DON't SPEED. As theflyingbadger said, speed kills.

69 in a 60 should just be $75 and no points... Consider yourself lucky by 1km/hr, pay your fine and slow down. The new cameras in WA are so tiny they can hide behind a small bush, in the back of a Nissan Xtrail or in those white vans. 50% of the time you don't even notice them...
I've got a Radar and Laser detector fitted to my car (legal in WA & NT) and i almost spot a mobile camera every other day.

Good luck with that.

Just pay the fine, And start taking responsibility for your own actions.

I think it's a solar problem where as the extra charge from them going through the 6 B&S wire to the batteries has caused the 100 amp isolator to trip and make your car go faster ...

That's my theory and I know I am right  ;D ;D

Mainey,

Have you had any other speeding fines in the last few years?

If not, write a letter to them, acknowledging the offense, say you're sorry, tell them you are normally a good driver, and ask them to please reconsider.

They will hopefully re-issue you with a warning instead.

It's worked for me (twice), the wife (once), my dad, and two of the guys here at work (plus the wife of one of them) whom I told about this unwritten 'loop hole'.

As long as you're not more than 10k's over the limit and haven't had a fine for a year or so, it works.

It may only be a Vic thing but give it a go... you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Oh and I'm not gonna take the high ground and tell you to not speed as I live in a 'glass house'.  It'd be hypocritical... of me anyway.

Contrary to popular belief it is not speed that kills, it's the big stop at the end that does the damage. I don't condone speeding because my old tug can't go that fast.
Just downloaded an app called Trapster for my droid phone which I am going to give a go. Shows all sorts of traps & is fed by users for mobile traps. Anyone used it before?
Sorry you got busted Mainey but the upside is you hit the magic number.  :cup:

This has worked for me (5 ks over in 100 zone) and my wife (7ks over in a 100 zone) and for a couple of blokes who I passed the 'magic letter' onto at work (Victoria). The main thing is admit you were wrong, tell them that you take the offence seriously and that it won't happen again (and that you have a clean driving record for the past year or two ). I'd imagine that the NAVMAN/road resurfacing argument might not go the best .  I'd be happy to email the letter if you think it'd do any good. Fines over here are going up by 12.5% across the board (but at least the budget is in surplus  >:D).

Get a big memory card for your Navman and set the unit to record your trip details.  I know of people who have got off fines because of them being able to provide evidence of their actual speed at the point of camera.  Requires a court appearance tho.

I have made use of the "good driving record" letter and received a warning letter withdrawing the fine  instead.  i beleive its a "once every three years" thing here in Vic - ie, no accumulated points in a 3 year period.

$75 fine for 9 k over, you blokes have it lucky.  Down here, that would be $130 plus.

Don't forget to let your vehicle insurer know you got fined.  If you don't, you may not be able to claim in case of an accident under the "failed to tell us everything" clause.

Read your PDS...  Theres all sorts of bullShit in there, most is in Russian.

Yes you are.. its all in there.

Bloke in the Missan club's son had insurance payout refused due to not telling them of 2 speeding fines, it all still fresh at the time, they were appealing/court etc.. I left the club. not sure what happened..
