Tyres - Help please
« on: May 01, 2012, 02:11:25 PM »
Hi,
My good mate has a 200 series cruiser, he is coming to the kimberley with me in a few weeks, only problem is we are struggling to find some tyres for him.

We are trying to find some 285 / 60 / 18.  Coopers make an LTZ in that size however none currently in stock that i can find.  Can anyone recommend an all terrain tyre that would suit and not too hard to get our hands on.  We are wanting to get 6 tyres.

Thanks

I drove from Melbourne to Alice then up the Tanami Trk, onto Broome, Cape Leveque, Mitchell Falls, Gibb River Rd to Kunnanurra, Savanah Way, Cairns back to Melbourne. Around 20000kms. I have ProComp AllTerrains and not one problem. I am more than happy. You can actually get more aggressive All Terrains  by ProComp but I dont think you will need them. As long as you drop your tyre pressure when needed. I am not affliated with the company, I just think they are a good tyre. :D

I've been using MT ATZ4 Rib for a long time now and MT MTZ before that and I live up in the Kimberly. Have you looked to see if MT do that size. That's the one good thing about standard sizes, easy to get. You better take a spare caucus with you as well or get your mate to change the wheel sizes as you won't get those sizes up here either or anywhere in the out back, just a thought. However, there are worse places to be stuck ;D

Have rang a couple of dealers with the MT range, and they have told me nope, although i havnt checked the net myself, and yep I have mentioned that it will be near on impossible to get 18's up there if he needs too. I  said to change the wheel size aswell but they like the 18's.  Thats why i run 16's, I have never struggled to get them anywhere.

If he can fit 17in rims on, go for it... save himself 100's in tyres per set.
